Quote ="Starbug"1 True but why do you think that as a negative ?
2 Quite possibly
3 Possibly as much to do with the free tickets
4 Are they , do you have proof of this ?
5 Do they , or is this just in your imagination ? , have any clubs seen an increase in attendances for games after they have been on TV ?'"
Ha take your chip off your shoulder, where did I say it was a negative?
A sponsor pays to have their name on an advertising board. It costs more to advertise at Man Utd than it does at Rochdale because more people will see the advert as Man Utd have bigger crowds, and massive worldwide TV coverage.
The Championship is now sponsored by a blue chip company which is a far cry from the days when the RFL scrambled around for tinpot sponsors such as "Buddies". As far as I know the Cooperative aren't investing because the Chief Executive is a Batley fan, they are doing it because they can get a financial return from it. The exposure for their brand on TV is key in this.
