| Hi!
I am sorry if this topic already has a thread, but truthfully I can't fathom how to check, cos not only am I new to this forum I am not that great with a pc either. Excuses over...
Why is it that when a team uses a regular ref and the ref is biased or even by his decisions engineers a win for "his" team ie disallowing perfectly good trys, the team considers that they have won the match? I am not talking about bad reffing, I am talking about blatant cheating.
I have watched my sons team play for school and the opponents used one of their pupils who ensured his team won. I know the same thing may well happen when they re match at my sons school, but either way we can never really know who has won with that mentality so what is the point.???
Just wondered if it is just me that is of this opinion????

| I have been told that getting a ref for the youngsters is a bit difficult so we should just "bite the bullet" and tolerate the bad reffing, as it goes both ways, but surely that does not inspire good sportmanship.
I stand at the pitch side week in week out and listen to frustrated adults yelling at young refs for letting things go all one way and not having balance in the game ( I do Know ref don't see everything). I have witnessed normally mild mannered kids throwing punches because they are soooooooo frustrated and just have to accept poor decisions. Some governing body should put a stop to this poor reffing and teach the kids about sportsmanship whilst they are still young enough to have respect for the game instilled in them.
As I said earlier I am talking about blatant cheating.

| WHAT a load of tosh..
Kids throw punches because a few decisions go against them?? Man the .... up! This aint football, if you wanted to teach sportsmanship you'd make sure they treated the official with respect!
The best teams finish at the top over a season, the worst at the bottom, if anything i've found teams who appoint their 'own' ref tend to get the majority of decisions against them.
here's something that will probably amuse you Chucky..Last weekend in the local footy league there was a ref appointed by the home team (from Widnes). Their team was losing 2-0 and their own players didn't like it so they did the ref in, one bloke in particular im led to believe beat the living daylights out of him.
Talk about a reverse of fortunes eh chucky.

OK, how about investing some time recruiting others to ref? Put yourself in the position of coordinating refereeing.

Both my kids both play one open age and one Gilette U18 - I have seen them play from U11 and every week I hear parents ranting at the referee - what do you expect Steve Ganson? these are refs pretty low down the quality level and their performance will reflect that.
Cheating - you need to retract that statement - these guys do it in their spare time for a small payment and without them you have no game
