| Quote ="Adeybull"Mick, leave them alone on Substandard and elsewhere. They all know you are so easy to wind up, and therefore they go for it without mercy. There are those on Substandard and elsewhere who will refuse to listen, and will try and twist the argument regardless, no matter how irrefutable your own argument is. Don't play their game - do what annoys them the most - ignore them and just laugh at them.
Incidentally, I think you also need to look more especially to Andrew Bennett for this initiative.'"
I've yet to meet Andrew, will have to tick that off my list for next season.

| Quote ="orange trance guru"On top the pledges real or fake how many day trippers excluding away fans are you expecting on average next season?
Is it realistic to expect 17k for the Rhinos game and an average around 14.5k.
Also what do u expect to happen in 2012 when season ticket prices triple?'"
They will not triple.
Even if they reverted back to last year's prices.
I will pay just over 50% this year of what I paid last year. Many will pay a considerably higher percentage, albeit still with a good saving.
You have been suckered by the headline £60 rate like so many others, completely ignoring the existing early-bird and season ticket discounts already in place and the lower % savings e.g in the stand.
And anyway, for such time as we are stuck in a huge ground with no capacity constraints, this pricing model - suitably tweaked - is likely to be sustainable.

| Quote ="Adeybull"You can still (to the best of my understanding) have a contract the performance of which is dependent upon a specific outcome, provided both parties agree that the contract is made subject to that condition, which then effectively becomes part of the contract?'"
Now I'm REALLY not up to speed on legal stuff, but what you've described here would work perfectly for a 'finders fee' whereby you agree to pay x subject to the other party producing certain goods. How they come about the goods is almost irrelevent and in this case the club has.
I think the legal bit is more around whether the people pledging can be seen to be reasonably expecting to be entering a binding contract. I'd say yes, but the degree of uncertainty/ambiguity as evidenced by subsequent press realeases explaining the minutiae, etc, would almost certainly cause any petition by the club to be thrown out in a matter of minutes.
But as has been said repeatedly, who cares? We get cheap season tickets and without the confusion there will be a LOT of people who will see product and price and will buy despite never having pledged.

| Duckett said they were going to change the food stalls and things like that for 2011 IIRC.
With alot more people entering, surely they'll also be able to command a much higher fee from the food providers, and hopefully (like he said) they'll be negotiating a deal so the prices aren't as espensive.

I dont think I have been suckered in. As a Leeds fan i am just interested in how your attendances will improve especially in derby matches because i miss the rivalry of pre 2006.
Although I dont want you lot to be too successfull i want you to improve so the rivalry is greatly increased and get the Leeds Bulls games back to the best derby in SL as it was in 03,04 and 05.

| I hope the club do something about the price of beer too. (although the quality could be better too )
Something like buy a pint every home game and get one free at the final game. Or a loyalty card where you buy 10 and get one free would be a good idea. Although we don't want to encourage the drunken idiots, there are plenty who complain about the price of beer.

| The only clubs that need to copy this are the ones with declining or already-poor gates already inadequate to support the necessary club expenditure, a large number of lapsed or wavering fans, with ample spare ground capacity and no mega sugar daddy and considerable future uncertainties if something does not change and soon.
That's Wakey (to a point), Cas (to a point) and...well that's it? Maybe Salford to try and build crowds at their new stadium. Quins obviously, except they lack the big lapsed/wavering fan base so I can't see how they would generate a big enough increase to cover the effects of the price cuts.
I really think this was a set of circumstances nearly unique to Bradford. I'm not sure of either the need for or the chances of success of such a scheme almost anywhere else in the SL. You would have thought the threatened Wakey and Cas would want to look at it, and Quins must wish they could. But the place it could maybe be most effective would be in the lower leagues?

OK, I'll acknowledge your motives were pure . It was your comment about prices tripling though - we've seen the same uninformed broken record (or its inverse - income will be only 30% yadda yadda yadda...) from too many on Substandard.

| Not withstanding the buzz around the place, the buzz amongst the fans, the buzz around the area, media coverage (this was on Sky sports news last night), chatter amongst Rugby league fans (whether positive or negative) and the additional unit sales in season ticket prices (the real pledge total) mean that the value of sponsorship of the club and at the ground and the interest in corporate match day packages has just shot up over night.
Genius idea and a great way to start the recovery.
Incidentally tonight on Radio Leeds' review of the season even they mentioned the buzz around the place and last seasons year to forget has been almost forgotten. The last time Wakefield were mentioned in the media Rob Burrow's dad (from the GMB Union) was talking about how the players hadn't been paid for two weeks...
...and we're the ones in trouble?
Not to mention that for those of us who've stuck by them and turned up every week during the club's worst ever losing streak it's a very big thank you from the club for our loyal support. It works both ways and we'll be back there drumming up the atmosphere that's been missing now come February along with the stay away-come backs and more importantly the newbies. More opportunities to sell, sell, sell!

Get the money in early. Also there is the cash flow up to the weeks before Christmas both from fans and Businesses caught up in the pledge hype. It wouldn't surprise me if the Coral Stand has taken more bookings for Christmas parties now.

And it won't be the only thing either.
I'll bet you now...the effect on potential sponsors/investors/advertisers of this huge upswelling of latent support will have far-reaching favourable consequences. We've just given Bennett and the club a huge USP to go out and market.

Hopefully they'll get a new sponsor for the stadium naming rights? I imagine that will be a big earner if they can find one.
