Other possibility that struck me is maybe theres another injured player close to a comeback and we're keeping a squad place free and naming him on the day. I agree it is slightly worrying that we've not put an U20's player in. It seems to me we choose the ones who will make it early on, make them full time and have the rest to make up the numbers. You never know one of them might step up

Wouldn't putting someone into the 19 at least give one of the U20s a taste of the preparation and atmosphere on a SL Gameday. Even if they had no intention of playing him, that would have had a value surely?

On the hand, the U20s were hammered 50-6 by Leeds U20s this afternoon.

So they obviously don't have a load of lads pushing for first team inclusion

Bateman is technically eligible for the u18's! The u20's who are already at SL standard are in the first team squad covering for injuries, which is why two or three of our better u18's are covering for the u20's at the moment. This does leave the u20's vulnerable though.

It was only his finger! Surely a broken bone has healed & there is no way of rushing back?
If the rumours are true he's off soon to pastures new along with a few of our top players because bulls need to somehow raise the next £500,000

He's had a shoulder reconstruction, hardly the perfect scenario to 'kick on'. I'll be pleased if he hasn't gotten worse tbh.
