Excellent, with the auction, last minute pledges and the "excess" from the bumper Leeds gate there might be a chance of making it...
Its making me ill following this I swear, despair to hope and back in the space of seconds each day.
COYB! get on the bandwagon everyone who's waivering, help us over the line, pledge what you can, even if its only the cost of your next pint!

| Quote ="Bulliac"You make it sound as though people supporting a sports club have the same relationship with the club as someone taking a garment to be dry cleaned has with the cleaning company. That, without doubt, is the legal reality but it certainly isn't the way I view it, nor do I believe it is the way the vast majority of fans (not customers) look at it.'"
Not quite. For many of us it is something other than that, and nearly 2000 people at the last count I saw have pledged their own money, suggesting that.
For some people however, the £75 will have been exactly that. A payment for a service. You can't blame those people for the club's financial woes.

I've sponsored over £200 on various fundraising activities from walks to wheelchair pushes.
It's money I shouldn't really spend with the Olympics coming up .... BUT losing the Bradford Bulls and top flight Rugby League in this city, would mean a massive part of my life being lost in an instant.
Regardless of stupid supporter grudges against the current board, NOW isn't the time to be standing defiantly and refusing to support the fundraising/pledge.
NOW is the time to ensure the heritage of this famous old club and ensure that future generations of Bradfordians can enjoy a trip to Odsal and watch the greatest game in the universe RUGBY LEAGUE.

| Bump for this as well;you really MUST read Adeybulls posts re last nights meeting if you have not already pledged. He and rest of Bullbuilder team should convince everyone that this really is our last chance to save the Club as we know it. Read it and get Pledging PLEASE.

I'm not arguing with that, just saying it's a bit much to blame the casual punter if the club goes bust. That is all. It's the hard core of support that are needed, and you all seem to be doing the business.
I'd still be blaming the board though, be it past or present. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be doing all you can, just that should you fail (and again, I hope you don't) you should be careful about where the finger points.

| He's right. Say what you like about extenuating circumstances, the overwhelming majority of people have been left to form their own conclusions about what happened and their track record is one of giving them a chance only for that faith not to be repaid.
Now is the time to pull together, but I won't be blaming anyone who doesn't trust this board and refuses to give them money. Their trust was automatic, and it is what it is now as a consequence of the past five or six years.

| I couldn't resist this sorry.......
For those who have seen and remember Aragorn's speech in lord of the rings....I've amended it slightly
Sons of England, of Bradford, my brothers!
I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the club from me.
A day may come when the courage of fans fails
When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of Rugby League
But it is not this day
An hour of Banks and Cash flow when the Age of Bulls comes crashing down
But it is not this day!
This day we fight!
By all that you hold dear on this good earth
I bid you Pledge, People of League!

| Nice one Northern lad! Especially to a complete Tolkien junkie like me, for whom Aragorn has to be THE hero. Now why can't we find an Aragorn of our own here in Bradford?
OK, guess I'll put in my tuppenceworth, shamelessly tweaking Henry V for what I can only hope will be the situation on Friday:
[iThis story shall the good man teach his son;
And Good Friday shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that makes his pledge with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in Bradford now at home
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That pledged with us this Good Friday.[/i

£300,000 as reported in the guardian, i am asuming that is just from pledges as i can gain by reading the article
Crookes out for up to 12 weeks with shoulder surgery, but with kear coming back every cloud and all that, we cant seem to keep a fully fit squad, ainy should be able to fill crookes spot with a strong centre with lulia next to him he should do great IMO

Make sure the good, young ones are injured ahead of any spell in administration. Won't pass a fitness test at one of the vultures and can stay with the phoenix club.

Yes, and one with my tongue in my cheek.
If Bateman and Whitehead 'do a hamstring' in training this week, I know I'm definitely onto something.

Beren is arguably THE Tolkien hero, and Luthien the heroin.
Theodens speech at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields is possibly more stirring.

Agree totally on points one and two. Theoden's speech ranks with St Crispin's Day in my books. Always brings a lump to my throat when I read it.
And if you've been to the middle of Bradford recently, its more like the ruins of Osgiliath than Mordor...

If you want to understand more about the wider history behind the LOTR it is essential reading. It is actually a collection of several separate works, which together help make much of the historical background to LOTR clear.
It covers the first and second ages, and to be honest is mostly one long tale of how in the first age Morgoth gradually destroys all the realms of elves and men in Middle Earth, one by one and so can be a bit depressing. Till in the end, when all looks finally lost, Earendil secures salvation from the West and Morgoth is cast out forever. Earendil's sons were Elrond and Elros, btw and from Elros ultimately came Isildur and Aragorn.
And then Sauron, Morgoth's lieutenant, does it all again in the second age, till he too gets cast down by Isildur. But, as Arnie said, "I'll be back..."
Sounds a bit like the Bulls, in fact!
