| Julien or Philbin might be a good shout for a loan I think we're in more need of props.
We've got Bentley, Larroyer, Wilkinson, JJR and Roche as backrowers.
Caro went alright yesterday but I still think he could run the ball in with more vigour. Not sure he's a long term solution at second row.

Definately need at least another prop forward, but I'd say equally as much as a back rower.
I wouldn't feel comfortable sending Bentley, Wilkinson, and JJR out together if we had to. As good as these young players have shown up this season I think we need some experience in there. Harrison would be ideal for me, apart from only being 1 body, when we probably need three more, he fits to the experienced bill and can play in the pack anywhere. Bailey and Harrison, that would be class. I think Bailey is a non starter though.

| I can't understand the logic in people wanting to sign Bailey, I really can't. The last few years of his career should be enough to tell you that it would be a waste of everyone's time and money. He's retired now so god knows what his fitness levels have dropped to.
It would be the Mathers signing all over again.
Right now they shouldn't be committing to anything until Toovey is officially in and can have his say. He must know some young boom props over in Aus wanting to make a name for themselves...

If we achieve that I believe it will be the first time in 9/10 seasons where we will have finished higher than the previous season.

| Quote ="Bullseye"I'm sure we're trying to recruit some permanent signings.
I suspect the most well known free agents (Bailey and Harrison) won’t come cheap. As has been said before Bailey would be good if he was 100% committed but could be an expensive waste if he wasn’t. Harrison would be decent, provided he was over his injuries. We don’t want any crocks.
Aside from those two I’d say we may be better looking overseas or just waiting to see who becomes available after Easter. It may also be the case we need a hooker before long but I hope not.
If we stop up we’re going to need at least 3 props, 2 backrowers and a halfback. That’s quite a shopping list.'"
Yeah, on the assumption (?) we can stay in this division at the end of [ithis[/i season that is a fair assessment of where we might be next time around.
Obviously, we don't know how finances are going to stack up, and much water is still to flow under a fair number of bridges, but I suspect, with a leaner squad of players than over previous years, who are [iall[/i actually going to play, the money side should be infinitely better than it has been in the recent past. So, I'd expect we'd try to keep as many of the 'kids' as possible, bring in some 'proper, signings, and come up with a few loans where necessary.
Have to say, it would be nice to have one of those 'old-fashioned' forums to hear, first hand, what management have in their minds and the odd rousing speech from a Paul Medley type speaker..

| He looked raging yesterday when he walked back down the terrace steps after we'd run in our third try in 9 minutes. The question is who do Dewsbury bring in to replace him?! Morrison was highly regarded as a good young coach. Hopefully somebody else will give him another shot. Perhaps he needs a season or 2 as an assistant to gain some more experience. Best of luck Glenn.
6 straight losses gets you the sack these days. Crazy.

Dewsbury have also announced that they will now split their training sessions between the Nando's and Costa Coffee at Birstall upon Karl's request.

With Toovs visa imminent, Beatie stepping back to the Academy, Morro would make a good Assistant Coach, has the necessary experience and as Bulls Fans know a great work ethic!

I keep hearing this kind of whisper, but as much as I suspect it's true that some chairmen might like us and hkr back in sl I just don't see that kind of shake up to the system being brought in for next season.
The rfl are reviewing the system, they have updated the minimum ground standards for sl -5000 capacity and min 2000 seats I believe, and there seems to be some talk of requiring a minimum attendance of 6500?! (no idea how they'll make that work) plus with Toulouse and Toronto on the up and wakey playing who knows where next season there is plenty of room for conspiracy theory's and wishes, but I don't see us in sl any time soon.
As a side note, with the rfl rules it goes on to state that clubs competing in the middle 8's need to meet the minimum standard or have aggreed dispensation before the 8's start or they "will be deemed to have finished 6th or lower in the 8's no matter how many games they win." Or words to that effect. So clubs like London wont be allowed to make the mpg or get promoted as far as I read it without rfl dispensation, how many championship clubs meet the new sl minimum ground standards? And who would get dispensation?

Have you got a link to this? I'm surprised there isn't more being made about this in the press, perhaps nobody has bothered to read it properly yet
As for us going straight back into SL, I can't see it happening. Imagine the reactions at Fax/Fev etc. if we were catapulted straight into the top division after all the drama we've just been through. Don't get me wrong it would be hilarious, but also completely unfair.

Ha, I knew someone would ask, this is probably my worst case of thread drift ever (mods feel free to shift to a new thread if you'd prefer), but the articles from the relevant rfl rules are below; surprised this hasn't been mentioned on the London board. Although to be fair there is also the usual RFL get out clause to all this of dispensation as the rfl see fit, but you can see this causing certain SL and champ clubs pause for thought at least;
[urlhttp://media.therfl.co.uk/docs/Section%20A2%20Minimum%20Standards_FINAL%20PDF.pdf[/url
A2:5 For a Club to be eligible for promotion to the Super League or Championship (as applicable) for any Season its ground must meet the Facility Standards of the Super League or Championship (as applicable) or the Board must have granted a dispensation in accordance with A2:3 above by, in each case, the Friday of Round 23 of Super League/Championship in the previous Season (being 22 July 2016 for the 2017 Season). For the avoidance of doubt a dispensation may include an extension of time beyond the date above to complete any work necessary to meet the applicable Facility Standards.
A2:6 Any Championship Club(s) which qualify for the Super 8s Qualifiers but which are not eligible for promotion to the Super League (due to not meeting Facility Standards) shall be entitled to participate in the Super 8s Qualifiers but if, at the end of the Super 8s Qualifiers, any of the Club(s) are 5th or higher in the Qualifiers league: (a) they shall be deemed to have finished 6th (and 7th if there are 2 such Clubs and 8th if there are 3 such Clubs) for the purpose of determining which Clubs are promoted and/or play in the 4th v 5th Play Off Match; but (b) shall be considered to be the highest placed Championship Club(s) (in order of finishing position) for the purpose of determining distributions in the Championship for the following Season.
[urlhttp://media.therfl.co.uk/docs/FACILITYSTANDARDS2016%20final%20PDF.pdf[/url
Capacity
SL – MIN 5000
Champ – MIN 2000
Seats (permanent)
SL- MIN 2000
Champ – MIN 750
Security of tenure – 5yrs
So to sum up, if you are playing in the middle 8's and don't meet the ground standards of 5000 capacity and 2000 seats by July 2016 and you don't get dispensation from the RFL, you cant get promoted or even participate in the MPG as far as I can tell. Which current Champ clubs does that exclude from the middle 8 party?
edit, by my reckoning (quickly done via wiki so could easily be wrong ) half of the current championship are not eligible for the MPG without RFL dispensation;
London - only 3000 capacity
Swinton - only 3387 capacity
Oldham - only 1200 seats
Dewsbury - not enough seats
Toulouse - only 4000 capacity
Sheffield - no 5 yr security of tenure
plus FWIW wakey wouldn't meet the standards either on security of tenure alone at the moment having given notice to leave BV with no announced destination, but I suspect any current SL club would get dispensation and their situation appears very much in flux to say the least.

Not sure I fancy the grief of dipping my toes in the VT
The 6500 average attendance I think was just conjecture or a throw away line in one of many articles about Wakeys situation and the "selling" of a franchise spot that doesn't exist to sell so its probably nothing....for the moment.

No worries...I'm between meetings at work today so time to kill, I don't have a Totalrl account but do read it as it seems to have more champ content. I reckon the relevant club chairmen must already know these changes and be accounting for them, so it might be something and nothing.....
