Spot on to me. You never know what the future will bring, or which position we may be suddenly desperate to fill in the next few months, so room under the cap AND a quota spot sitting in the bank for now seems reasonable to me.

One thing to consider as well is that the quota spots go down by one after this season I think. Meaning that we'd have to offload one of the guys we currently have if we signed a new player for more than the 2011 season regardless of how they played.

For every doom monger on the T and A there's someone coming back and responding positively so it's fairly balanced.

Herbert is a blow and there's no easy fix. I think Kearney is a very ordinary stand off but a really good FB. Heath is a very ordinary SH but an excellent hooker. My inclination would be to leave those 2 in their natural positions and go with Briggs and Ah Van with Ainscough coming in at wing There's nothing to stop us changing Ah Van and Kearney around if it doesn't work or bringing Heath out of the scrum when Diskin is on.

i would rather go for millard, still think he will turn out to be a top drawer centre. Morrison is a great player but in the wrong position. I genuinely like to see us go after murphy and george as well. Think they will add to the squad and are 2 young british lads

I believe Wigan have him signed up already. That'll be a massive boost for them if he can get up to speed after 2 years out.

Hock is definitely still contracted to Wigan. Unlike us with Hudson and Wakefield with Newton, they didn't sack him when he was banned.

I thought I read that somewhere. Credit to Wigan for standing by a disgraced player during his hour of need. I think it's fair to say if it were someone lower down the pecking order with less ability I believe they would have released them straight away.

At the end of the day it's Wigans choice. It could prove to be a great 'signing'.
