True. But 5 of the 6 England prop that played in the World Cup over in the NRL, then Carvells probably one of the best in the league.
International quality is probably the best phrase

To be fair I don't think he would have played for England anyway, Crabtree was by far the better prop. Then McNamara makes his usual joke selection with T Burgess.

Looks like a done deal, only Bradford in his way. I would say if he wants to leave which looks the case, his contract situation looks intresting with Bradford going into admin last week

| We have two choices really. If we were a Wigan or a Warrington or a Hull we could afford to let him rot on the bench. But we can't, so get rid. He has taken his bat home so let him go. He doesn't so loyalty and he has previous for this. If he doesn't want to play, stuff him.
I can't be doing with players who don't think their contracts mean anything.

Anyway, if he wants to leave why would we be stopping him? Our current owners said any player could leave if they wanted to when we announced we needed to save 400k. He must be a top earner, he wants to leave, let him leave.
We can't carry anyone whos heart isnt in it and we need to save cash.....i'll order him a taxi.

TBH his contract was with OK Bulls, it sounds like when he was asked to renegotiate his contract with BB2014 in order to transfer his employment via TUPE it was for different terms and he has refused (this is all of course rumour from social media and not gospel) so if true he actually didn't have a contract to honour

Oh I am pretty sure he has a contract. He just fancies a better one. Contracts are worthless in all reality when someone with more cash comes knocking.

| He does have a settled home life in Warrington. If he's that desperate to go that he's willing to commit to another 45-60mins on the M62 every day then Clarkey must be in line for a decent bonus and Carvell for a pay upgrade.
Now this is a fairly good penalty for going into administration.
You lose some points, you lose central funding and you lose one of your better props.

Agree with this .
Cant stand the fact that players sign a contract for an agreed sum and then want out as soon as the going gets tough or the grass appears greener on the other side .
Disrespectful to the club but more so the fans , and i include a certain boy wonder in this scenario

| Disappointing in so many ways. The Hull paper suggests that the Bulls are resisting and that's good to know. However at the point of administration I suspect he has the right to refuse the TUPE transfer. What surprises me is the contract on offer seems to be for 1 year with a further 1 year option whereas the Bulls contract was for 2 years. Is the money so much better it Hull?
And if there's a dispute between the clubs can we expect another approach to the RFL to decide which claim is valid? Let's hope this doesn't ruin relations between some rival fans to add to the current exchange of vitriol between SOME ( not all) elements in the Trinity and Bulls camps

Think that's rubbish and not possible. You can tell someone their job is redundant but you can change the terms or two (I think) years.

TUPE seems to be the key here, as I understand it there doesn't need to be any change to the working terms of his contract, he just appears to have refused to sign the agreement which would have transferred his services from OK Bulls Ltd to Bulls 2014 Ltd, this is any players right (and any individual in all walks of life in similar circumstances). He probably did this on his agents advice who probably then did a quick round robin offer to several SL clubs. Tough on Bradford but Hull FC not to blame here, I just hope all your other players have signed their TUPE agreements.

| you can change terms, but if they are deemed significant the employee does not have to accept them and can refuse to to tupe'ed across hence forcing the company to make them redundant or compromise on the contract terms that are then agreeable to the employee and employer..."The changes have to be significant and it is a very grey area that usually ends up going through employment contract lawyers though"

| Another kick in the slats for the club and coaching crew, just wait for the RFL to kick us again with a points deduction.
Phil Clark has tipped Salford to come top to the SL this season i think he has got that wrong as i think he has got our position wrong 12th can see us being relegated this season.
Im' having a bad day as is the club at the moment.

Right, first off, someone get on to the agent of Lee Jewitt currently at Limoux. Next, go on hands and knees to beg, steal or borrow a couple of prop forwards from Wigan, Huddersfield, Leeds, Hull FC, Halifax, whoever.
There's too much on the line for this potential departure to set us back.
Oh and FAO Ross at the T&A, when you interview players about how they see a bright future at the club i.e. Bateman and Carvell, please add a final caveat paragraph saying this could all be a week later.

I can, we only need to come above probably london and a.n.other. We've still got a shot. But this is a problem entirely of our own making IMHO, when we were in such dire financial straights last season we should have built a squad we could afford at the time and continue to afford in the short to medium term, clearly we didn't....and yes i know lots of the reasons and explanations why we've taken that route, but its ultimately folly to sign players we can't afford as they end up leaving after (another) admin, a week before the season. (We tried this before, build a team and the money and fans will follow, failed then, failing now.)...whereas a solid but less expensive prop signed from the championship, for example, rather than Carvell might have completed the pre season with us and still turned up next sunday.
It grim, but we need to get our house in order and compete the best we can, we'll find the level we can afford...which will hopefully still be SL, get the full funding, clear the decks, affordable squad and then try to build slowly through the academy, no reason why it can't be done with the right effort. And the league restructure might actually help us in this regard if the worst does happen, at least there is a route back now.
Let Carvell go, use the loan system to get someone in short term, move on. If he's told the club he wants to go the club should get in front of the story and use it as an example of us cost cutting...might help with the rfl.

Incidentally has anyone seen any statement from the RFL regarding the rigorous enquiry they were to pursue after the revelations of the Mason court case?
If the Bulls are trying to renegotiate TUPE'd contracts with existing players or staff we should be very concerned. That rumour seems to be gaining currency so it's imperative that the question is asked.... And hopefully answered.

| More and more negative news coming out of the club. Is the Hull Daily Mail right in suggesting that Carvell can walk away from his contract when OK Bulls went into administration? Surely the club would have had him sign on to the new regime? Perhaps that why he was missing on Sunday?
The final nail in the coffin could be a points deduction.
