The silver lining is probably the new structure. Under licensing you could have missed out on the next round of franchising, like Widnes did. Under normal P&R, you'd have to win a grand final. Under the new structure, you only have to be better than one of the super league clubs at the right end of the season, assuming you are the best of the Championship clubs. You would probably operate under bigger crowds than any other championship club. So in reality, it might only count for the first 23 rounds of next year, because there would be every chance you'd be in that middle tier scrap anyway.

There will be a few clubs, including Wakey, who will be in that scrap every year. The reality is that you have a better chance than most of getting back up in that scenario. If Wakey stay up, in the year that we eventually fail in the middle tier, we will struggle to get up again.

I know I'm starting a storm, but feeling like I do as a long term fan I think it has to be said, that in other administrations in Super League, teams had a single sanction (4 points penalty), we had 3 (or 4 if you count 2 lots of 6 points), being 6 points penalty (note 2 more than others!!!, funding removed and special measures. Is it any wonder we feel victimized, and I know we got a loan in 2011/12, but the RFL gave the loan against an asset. Whether the asset was worth the loan is not our concern, the RFL thought it was. Duck for the bile and vitriol that will follow.

Yes. One of a points deduction, special measures or a reduction in central funding would be a fair punishment for the poor way the club has been run. But all 3? Especially in a relegation year?
