Genuine question as I don't know the answer. I am sure some have made pledge at the time caught up in wanting to save their club (understandable) and pledged more they can afford. And paying a month later circumstances change. Stuff breaks needs replacing etc...

Is the pledge commit you to the amount stated or can you just back out and not pay?

It is probably not legally binding. And besides if people don't pay up, there will be noone left to chase you for it!

Steve O'Connor is a genuine RL fan, who saved Widnes. From people I know who know him, he is a pretty decent guy.

I jest of course, the situation you find yourselves is one we know too well. And I do feel for you! It is entirely startling to see how far you have fallen in the past 4-5 years. The bulls & smellins back in the day, top dogs! Nobody could hold a light to Bradford at one point. Very sad the way things have turned out. Although do not lose all sense of hope, we stuck with it, and achieved SL status after four years of torment. Keep fighting.

Have you ever tried reading the YEP? If you had an IQ of more than 27 when you started, reading the Yorkshire Evening Post for a prolonged period of time can actually lower it.

Some of the people who commented on that article were probably quite bright when they started reading it.

In hindsight not inducing Harris to breach his contract would have helped.

Still, the current chairman wasn't involved in that deal was he? Oh.

I think it was seemingly more a case of the former Chairman being so sure that the contractual arrangements supposedly binding Harris would be voidable as a restraint of trade, that he never considered the possibility that the restraint of trade might be judged a valid one?

I suspect (a pure guess, obviously...) he, being a lawyer himself of such renown on whom you would expect to be able to rely, will have assured his fellow directors (of which only Hood remains) that this was assuredly the case. Assuming of course he made them aware of the full details in the first place, which only those involved will know.
