Why is it? We're playing erratically (tp be kind) and near the bottom of the table, our home form, (apart from beating you mugs which isn't saying much), is shocking, it was pi55ing it down, and all there was to 'look forward' to was either a meaningless rout of a crap team or even worse - as happened - another home defeat, by the bottom club.

What I was very glad to see was the applause a section of our fans gave to the Celtic players. I was one that stayed behind to applaud them off the field and I was happy to see quite a few others did the same.

Despite the obvious disappointment our fans were feeling, it was a really nice show of respect for the visitors, who for obvious reasons, we're going to have a massive following there with them.

More seriously though there was not a lot of comment around today and I think this is worrying. People are now past caring and it won't be long before they stop coming altogether.

Maybe one reason for the poor attendances is due to the fact that if you are playing bad, losing and not getting any points you wont make it into the playoffs and therefore this season is a waste of time, and your games are pointless, seeing as how the only thing you are playing for is pride. Due to the fact that your competition (So Called) does not mean relegation. hence nothing to do other than play with pride, which according to quite a few previous posts over the last few weeks suggest that the players don't even play for that.

As a rugby league fan I think it is acceptable to worry when a team who were once considered to have embraced Super League more than any other is falling well short of a 5 figure crowd. Its worrying because it may happen to any other successful side that goes through a re-building stage.

Here are my suggestions for the decline anyway;

1) Lack of player nicknames
2) Lack of impressive cars in the parade
3) Lack of Boney M

Bullmania appealed mostly to fairweather fans, our loyal fans number roughly in the seven thousand and something that turned up today. And im not going to claim that im some sort of bona fide loyal supporter because im not, ive only just got into RL over the last couple of years. Targetting families is a great strategy to an extent, but do they all turn up when the results are going against them and the weather is bad?

No club should rely on away support coming to make them viable, you have to worry about what you have control over and what you can influence.

Surely not, the people can't possibly stop coming to see The People's Team
