I expected more from Scruton than I did from Sheriffe though, I think he has looked better in the last few matches though.

Well at least we can say both Beaver and Worrlord were cracking signings. I didn't expect too much from Worrincy but, my has he proved me wrong. We always knew Menzies would be immense though.

833 metres in 11 games and many of those he started isn't great if anything it's disappointing.

I never said it was great, I said it was god for a young prop finding his feet in a new team.

No it's not good for a front line prop and he can't be classed as a young prop he's 24 with a lot of first grade experience.

I think we can say in the form we've been in the stats aren't going to look good for anybody.

So we can't comment on the players form now can we even though they have been disapointing. No wonder people don't post on here if you don't bull up the club at every opportunity you get slagged to piece's.

I'd hardly say anything on this thread remotely resembles anyone getting "...slagged to pieces"? But my own comment was prompted by seeing yet another thread on here singling out a player, when - as people have pointed out - that may not be entirely fair. Your own comment above re three centres tended to support that, even?

Just seems to me that now Platt seems to have dropped off the radar for now, we have to find a new target. Maybe it was slight over-reaction, but you must surely agree that when the team has done well we see far less comment on here than when they have not? I was just trying to put myself in the player's position, and wondering what the player would think - especially when we all surely realise that confidence has been in short supply and is hopefully (but only) now starting to return. At least he put himself in a position to score - and to make a mistake - last Saturday.

For me Sherriffe started poorly but has improved every match I have see him in and I think he is now well worth his spot.

In fact this season I think all the signings are showing lots of potential. A few had disappointing starts but that is true of the team as a whole. Overall I am feeling pretty optimistic at the moment.

Players love to get the adulation when they do well. So when they don't perform well they should be able to take some stick.

To some extent I agree with you but that can go to extremes where some players get scapegoated and people only notice their errors and they get no credit for the good stuff they do.

If we only focus on the bad then any player could get slated.

So to summarise, everyone should be free to criticise whoever they want without fear of someone criticising them. Hmm...

BTW Rikki cost us a try on Saturday but then so did Menzies. Both helped make one too.

Disagree. For someone at a new club following a significant operation in the close season and a curtailed preseason I think he is coming on very well.



He is steadily improving - as is most of the team

No it's got to the stage on here if you make a valid point which is then proved correct. You then get certain posters jumping on the morale high ground just because you had the cheek to criticise even though your correct.

I've noticed two specific things that I suggest all our 2009 recruits have in common:

1. A tendency to have made more mistakes than we might have hoped for;

2. A tendency to (usually) show very considerable enthusiasm in their game.

Now there are people on here far better qualified than me to comment about the details of the game; but am I the only one to think that point 1 is something of a consequence of point 2? Because if it is, then the future looks promising - the enthusiasm we need and will help win us games; and the mistakes will get ironed out as the team settles more. My tuppenceworth, anyway.

Personally, and in the context of the overall team performance, I'm happy with all of them right now. Beaver of course speaks for himself, but I have a feeling the reporter in Sadler's Rag who observed that Worrincy "...is beginning to prove himself an astute signing..." may turn out to be guilty of considerable understatement?

Incidentally, speaking of Sadler's Rag (which yes, I bought for the second time in two years this week - its OK, I can handle it, and can stop again any time, honestly...) I see that Sykes got "Player of the Week" and Beaver was only just shaded for "Try of the week" by that Evans try.
