If we can get them under pressure and snuff out any possible high bombs then Clare should be fine, may work with his speed from deep.

On purtell his and williams' inter play is a joy sometimes so id have him over Blythe who doesnt seem to bring the winger into the game, need a strong 2nd rower on their side to beef up the defense.

We do seem to pick some strange squads, no Walshaw but Baille, no f/b despite 2 fit ones available, Siejka in squad despite not playing for ages, does this mean he must play and./or a half back is injured?

While there's no [inatural[/i full-back in the squad, I'm expecting Clare to line up there. I'd be surprised if Gaskell played there having played at 6 in every game that he's featured in this season.

Agree with macca's team. Siejka and Baile to miss out for me but it worries me they've been included. Jimmy's past history leads me to think that at least one will be included. Which IMO will weaken our team rather than strengthen it. Will be a good battle of the forwards

That's where the game will be won I reckon. If our pack stands up to theirs and restricts their metres, then we'll minimalize the threat of Tim Smith. I think our backs are faster than theirs and could cause some damage. We can't allow Wakefield unnecessary field position. Discipline and ball retention will be vital early on.

I think Siejka being in the 19 is probably just to keep Wakefield guessing a little but Clare to fullback would seem the most sensible option if he is comfortable there. I thought Caro showed up well on the wing so it would be nice to see him back in the side.

Wakefield lack pace out wide so if Purtell and Nielsen can create some space for their wingman then we may have some success by shifting it out wide.

Blythe might have featured but it's debatable if he has contributed.

Rumour on social media is that Shaw's had a falling out with club about an extension for next year. he feels we haven't offered him enough compared to what were offering others and hence him unlikely to feature again and seemingly off to hull next year. Doesn't explain why Mendieka isn't in squad though
