Wowzers, that's a lot of recruiting that needs to be done!
How old is Paul Wood now? A few years ago I would have jumped at the chance of us signing him, but he seems to have dropped off a cliff career wise.

| I'd take Matt James back, and have a look at Remy Marginet he was a handful when we were whooped. A few of those are already signed up or returning to loan club and some are retiring.

wasnt it reni matua who did all damage against us at odsal?. The one who went on loan to Salford for qualifiers and I think has now signed for leigh.

If true he would be a much better bet than some guy who couldn't cut it at Fev or Leigh

Walked out of a meeting with Carter and Smith yesterday apparently.
As for the person that mentioned Brett Seymour, he's a class player, but a ticking timebomb. Dewsbury had put him on leave before the end of the season for being light fingered in the changing rooms. I saw him watching an amateur game a couple of weeks ago and he was very much worse for wear, and there was no sign of any beer anywhere near him.

Marginet was the scrum-half wasn't he? He looked OK.
Maitua did most of the damage though, playing on the left edge.

| The obvious area for squad improvement for me is in the pack, the front row especially. I like our starting pack (Clough, O'Brien, Sidlow, Olbison, Pitts, Addy) but apart from Ferguson, our bench options haven't been good enough. Lauaki and Crossley's stats from the Widnes game were very poor IIRC but in comparison, Sidlow and Clough's were ok. Glad Tahraoui is coming back. Anyone heard anything on Karl Davies?

Agree in general but thought Olbison, Pitts and Addy were poor on Saturday.

| I personally don't think Crossley is good enough,
A bit plump and not mean enough...
Lauki will probably go too, he will be on a big wage and we could do better with the cash...he was marketed as our Moi Moi but doesn't get close.
I would like to see flemming and Tahroui given some game time, they could both do well for us!

We were dumb enough to give Lauaki a two year deal. So unless we pay him off, he will be here next season stealing a wage. No other club is gullible enough to take him off our hands.
I've praised Steve Ferres for his recruitment during last year's off-season, but his panic buys after deals fell through (Siejka for O'Brien and Lauaki for Offerdahl) have both been shockers.

Forgot about Offerdahl. Gutting to think if the O'brien and Offerdahl deals had worked out, we'd probably be in SL now What's he doing now Offerdahl. Could be worth a shot?

| The stats on the SL site show the problem
Crossley made 4 carries for 23 yards
Lauaki made 4 carries for 24 yards
That's just pathetic for bench props who are meant to give impact.
To be fair, Crossley did make 22 tackles (although he missed so he made a defensive contribution. Lauaki only made 5 tackles so he didn't do anything in attack or defence.
But who on earth would sign up Lauaki - or Crossley for that matter?
It might help if those two got dropped in favour of Flemming or Taharoui if they didn't shape up, but it seems like they get picked no matter how little contribution they make.

I saw those stats in League Express. They lay bare the inadequacies of our bench props. That amount of carries and yards is pathetic. It's Ian Kirke-esque.
Fair enough have an impact prop if he's going to bust tackles and make gaps for ithers but neither of these really do that.
