Sorry to hear that mate, but I really hope that the injury to Heath doesn't have any underlying repercussions as we near the busisness end of the season when he has recuperated from his injury.

| They should get a third opinion. THey might find this time it's just a bruise and he can actually play this week
In all seriousness, those who slag off the club for not giving accurate information on player injuries will surely be eating a little humble pie around now? A lot of clubs would have kept this news to themselves, then surprised opposition by bringing the player back earlier than anticipated, so that they hadn't prepared properly for him. Naming no names of clubs there of course. Our club has give the fans a bit of good (or at least less bad) news instead.

Some other clubs would have kept their mouths shut until they knew the full extent of the injury, rather than deliver three differing prognosis within the space of a few days!
Still, it wouldn't be the Bulls if stuff like this didn't happen, I wouldn't have it any other way

| I'll leave this to people far more qualified than me because I've suffered broken bones that healed quickly but I once broke a small bone in my wrist - that didn't even hurt really and only went to casualty because I was told to - and had a cast on for 16 weeks because the blood supply wasn't very good.
On the other hand I've heard that ligament damage is often worse than a fracture but I really don't know. If the club are releasing press statements saying it's less bad news then I'll drink to that!

| With L'Estrange injured let's hope that if Diskin will play the full 80 that he doesn't get injured!

Few years ago now, Mick. All fine now.
Whilst Heath is definitely in our best seventeen players (probably best seven, let alone seventeen) a team with an 80 minute hooker does get a lot more options on the bench.

Agreed! I don't really need to know hour by hour gossip and would actually prefer to keep it under wraps and surprise the opposition on the day.
Anything to give the team the upper hand is ok by me. Why are we so obsessed with all this heresay and information all the time? Damn Twitter!
Just let the team get on with things.

Shame you don't know the actual circumstances of what happened, and why the announcements were made as they were, as you would almost certainly not have posted what you did. As far as I can determine, there was no fault attaching to either club or player. The fault lay elsewhere.

Could be at least a month till we see him back

| It's a good job this has been confirmed again. I thought the exact same story and discussion on the other thread was just a wind up.
Edit: And now it's been merged so my comment looks stupid!

You may wink, but that's a ridiculous attitude. Apart from the fact that the Bulls are damned if they do give quick info, and damned if they don't, what are you implying - that they gave out info which they had no reason to believe? Like, just to say something, anything?
there were already people on these forums having a go at the Bulls for allegedly not being straight when the rumours of it being a fracture came out, contrary to the Bulls initial press release. They can't win with some folk. Seems to me perfectly clear that they were just passing on to the fans the state of the injury as the medicos were telling it to them, which I for one appreciate. Oh and diagnosing fractures from X-rays is not an exact science.

Very much agree with all of that. They could have just not said anything until they were [iabsolutely[/i sure but it would probably have come out on twitter anyway, either from the player himself or from a friend, so what would have been the point.

| When someone does something like Heath did Theres always alot of swelling and hard to be sure from X-rays if it is broken or not! I suspect this is the case and the club issued a worse case scenario and can always back track from that. I'd have been more down hearted if they had said he had ligament damage and then said he broken it other than vice versa!

| Check out what the club actually said.
"...further tests revealed...".
As in "after not being satisfied with the original diagnosis we were presented with", might you surmise?
I do wish some folk would not be so eager to jump to conclusions!

| There is a lot of confusion about this. The time frame will have been something like this, given when info came out.
Sat night - Significant swelling, xray not done as too late, put into precautionary cast although Bulls medical staff quite optimistic.
Sun - Xray done, must be a subtle sign of a fracture on xray, difficult to be sure, cast is kept on. MRI recommended to confirm.
Mon - MRI done, fracture ruled out, ligament damage(which doesn't show on xray) is now detailed. Treatment plan organised. Bulls medical staff initial diagnosis confirmed

| Now the dust has settled, something I suggest for some people to think about.
Those people on here who played up at the club for putting out an update as soon as they were in a position to, and then revising that update after further scans had been carried out because of reservations about the in initial diagnosis: would you have been having a go at the club had they instead not issued any update to the fans until Tuesday? Given they knew the fans were very concerned about Heath having seen what happened, and were desperate for an update (as evidenced on here)?
I would expect the club to be feeling very much that they are damned if they do and damned if they don't here.
We can't have it both ways, guys. If we want timely updates (and I suspect that is the desire of most fans) then we have to accept that - in some cases - releasing updates quickly might mean subsequent revision is required should further facts become available. Through no fault of the club. And I think you will find that neither club nor player were in any way at fault in this instance, and I have validation of that from outside the club too.
If people attack or deride the club in such circumstances, that could well (I choose my words deliberately and with care) lead to the club considering saying bollox to this, we'll either wait till there is no chance of the situation changing before releasing anything, or we'll not bother trying to keep the fans informed at all if we just get derided. I'm sure none of us would want to see that, so think on?
