Not that often. If it did happen often, I think we'd see a lot more of it, and then probably some rule brought in to punish what is undoubtedly a professional foul.

Yep and the player will usually get a yellow card (unless it's the Hull derby when the ref seems to bottle it). The difference between this one and a normal professional foul is the timing of the game and the scoreline at the time. A yellow card would have meant absolutely nothing.

On the contrary I would argue it is incredibly frequent and occurs in most games. Why? Observation. Watch back any SL game you have from any season and demonstrate a game where some incidence of deliberate foul play or obstruction doesn't take place? I could go back to a live game I watched at Old Trafford in 1990 where Mal Meninga (prior to receiving the final pass) impeded Carl Gibson in his track back attempt at the end of the game. Meninga scored, Aussies won, it's in the history books. The talk was of how good the Aussies were not foot stamping about an incident that really was a common occurrence.

I repeat if Sam Tomkins (or any England rep) did that to Greg Inglis in the last minute of the 4Nations, then good on him.
