While at Odsal half an hour ago I saw Peter Hood and asked re Beaver and he said nothing has happend as yet, all he could say was that if the Head Coach wanted to bring in someone from the NRL then Beaver being off contract is the obvious choice and that Beaver is aware of this. But nothing has happend but it is a likely scenario but not a certain one as yet!
Also the ticket office girls are getting fed of abuse from some fans when they tell them they don't know! They would be better off asking Duffy or Ryan direct and then being told the Club don't know!

Great player though Menzies is, it wouldnt upset me too much if this signalled a change in recruitment policy away from well known but very expensive, older, done it all players back to not so well known, cheaper, quality but with plenty to prove players ie less Orford more Hape.

I think we need to share out the wages over a greater number of quality players.

Not the foreseeable future. And it is quite clear there was a confidentiality agreement as part of the Harris settlement with Leeds - the wording of the press release made that extremely clear to anyone who knows the code.

As Hood said on what must have been a totally unrelated subject at the forum, the club has been hit very badly by the unexpected annual cost of the, er, "recession" and this annual cost is expected to continue to be every bit as bad for a little while yet. But he was confident it would suddenly end as quickly as it started. I just wish a load more people knew and understood about this unexpected annual cost of the "recession", and the impact it has been having on our club's ability to compete. I think as time goes on though more people are starting to realise.

And about what caused the "recession".

How do you know how he's been treated? It's not as though he already had an option for an extra year, but we won't give him it. He was only coming for 1 year anyway in the first place, we've been lucky to have him for two already, but if Mr Potter thinks that it could be a year too far then I'll trust his judgement over mine.

Knowing how Steve is, he'll take it on the chin. As much as we've enjoyed watching him, he is 37, and if we can get a young quality player in his place then I can accept it. I'd love to have him for another year, but there is no room for sentiment in sport.

no doubt if hall and menzies were in the same situation then it would be hall going. however menzies is out of contract whilst hall still has 2 years to run on his deal. it costs us nothing to release menzies whereas it would cost us 2 years salary to release hall, and he'll be on 80-90k pa I'd imagine, so releasing hall isnt really an option unless he went by mutual consent.
