I doubt there will be much of an upturn in support if any. There's bound to be a feeling that the club have written off this season, hopefully that feeling will not extend to the players. If St Hilaire has only been given the job on a short term basis irrespective of results, he doesnt have much of a mandate to change things around. On the plus side the involvement of Medley and Menzies might provide a spark.

A head coach is judged by the success the first team have on the pitch.

I'm not a Macca fan but I would have [uloved [/uhim to have had this success, the same as I want every Bulls coach to have sucess as, lets be honest, we all enjoyed playing in the finals, winning trophys and beating Leeds. Unfortunately based on the results of the first team I don't see how his tenure can be seen as anything other than underachievement. Despite the back room shenanigans at the club I believe that he has had a squad that was capable of more, as has been seen in patches during the past few seasons. In any other club, in normal situations, he would have gone ages ago. He won't benefit directly from the changes the club has made behind the scenes in the last few seasons but hopefully we will and for any input he has had in that (some on here seem to give hime sole credit, other a smaller role) I think we will all be grateful.

What now?

We have 6 games left to turn our season around and achieve at least some level of success. We're a point off the playoffs and we have to play Wakie so, whilst we still have to hope for others to slip up it's still more than feasible. Fingers crossed the team can put a line under the last few weeks and kick on. GF from 8th place anybody?

We have a new head coach soon to be announced who will hopefully bring some energy and confidence to the club and hopefully we can put the worst parts of the last few seasons behind us and look forward to the weekend again instead of wondering what the hell is going to happen next! The young players we have coming through will be a year older and have a years more experience under their belts, especially those who have been thrown to the lions this year, and fingers crossed these will be the first of many to come through our junior setup over the coming years.

As for McNamara, whatever feelings people have towards him as a coach, he's faced some difficult times with injuries to key players. The latest losing streak can't be blamed entirely on him and his coaching staff or ability. Sure, there's a portion of it, after all he is responsible for getting the team to gel and work together. From the highlights I saw the main problem is defence or lack thereof, too many people acting like revolving doors and letting soft offloads out.

You were the first team to beat Wigan this season, after looking down and out at half time. The tactics for the second half were spot on, tighten up the defence and take the opportunities. The problem is you can't just tell a team to do that and they'll do it.

I don't rate him highly, not like I rated Noble for example, but the players let themselves down too.

Maybe a new coach will give the players a morale boost. I think that's all it'll take. Despite injuries, there's still some good players out there for you.

At least with Sykes' ban your error count will drop for a couple of weeks...
