Cameron said on Twitter only this afternoon that he did not have a job yet and would pretty much take anything.

So unless a deal has been done since 1pm this afternoon, I would say it's b0llocks. (Unless he's trying to throw people off the scent, but it would have been easier to just say nothing).

i still remember the play off game at widnes when he appeared to have gone off with concussion twice with lengthy breaks in play.
I do not like this guy as he stands for the poor aussies who come over here and just block the paths of youngsters and would go as far as to say he is one of reasons along with nobby why we have managed to get ainscough.

He's a decent player though, just unfortunate for him that his injury last year came at a point when he was considered 1st choice fullback for us, and after that firstly Roberts was the best player in the league there and then Sam Tomkins took to that position.

Could definately do a good job though for you, I'm suprised he hasn't already been picked up tbh.

If your playing Kearney at FB then there wouldn't be much point, but if Potter is still planning on playing Kearney at 6 despite signing Briggs then I don't think you've got another fb better than Phelps.

I would go,platt,sykes,halley,finegan, royston above phelps just because he is an aussie does not mean he is a good player. think he brings the standard down because he blocks english players getting a chance to imporve. Another face in the way of youngsters getting an oppurtunity, offers little other than a stop gap measure and a desperate one at that, no experience worth passing on = no better than what we have.

Roberts was also better in nrl than phelps so i was surprised he even got contemplated before old amos. phelps is a centre who is just not strong enough or quick enough. he shoudl go to celtics or catalans were it doesnt matter how many quota players you have because he just does not add anything other than a stop gap measure and at this stage a desperate one that would not be necessary at bradford.

In all fairness he's a good player but we should give the lads we've got a run.

Phelps is arguably better than our cover for fullback (Royston,Halley, Sykes, Platt etc) but as you can see, we're not short on cover for fullback. Just don't see what significant difference he would make to our current side.

If we use the spare quota spot I think we should get a half back or Prop. Only if we can find someone far better than what we have already. If non are available give the lads we've got a chance as we seem to have plenty of options.

Roberts was playing on the wing when Phelps was at FB, so it's not as if he was chosen above him.

And I would disagree, I would say Phelps is better than all those you've mentioned (although I havent seen Royston tbh).

I suppose he wouldn't, but I was just commenting on that he wouldn't be a bad signing, as some people were suggesting.

If you've got the quota spot free though, he's going to be cheap so it would be squad depth but you've already got a lot of cover in the backs.

Braith Anasta.. isn't he a bit marquee?

I suppose we cannot let a few bad experiences stop us trying to sign quality footballers from Australia. Anasta would be our best 6 or 13 and I would take a gamble on him if he did fancy a stint abroad. At least with the squad we have this year, we wouldn't be gambling on him to be a success to be able to compete.
