cracking news! we could do with a bit of squad stability after recent years, this is a great start towards that.

Normally they'd announce this going into a game. But I imagine it's a bit of damage limitation following the loss at Saints, possibly the club thought the loss might be greater than 12 points.

But still. It's good to see another player on a long term deal. One of the main problems Bradford have had over the last 5 years is we seem to have one of the highest player turn overs in the league. If you look at the teams which have had success over SL it's those clubs which have as little disruption in terms of players coming in. I include the Bulls in that, as over the period 2000-2005 we only had 2/3 players joining the club a season, where as following that, we've had 5/6/7/11 players coming and going in the off-season. And as it happens every year, the team doesn't gel as well as clubs like Wigan and Hudds who've had very little in the way of change in their playing staff.

Out of the other members of the squad that are due to run out this year (according to Silsdenbull's thread anyways), there are 3 names that to me spring out above the rest.

I would say Michael Platt, Brett Kearney & Heath L'Estrange are well worth new deals and I'd like to see them tied up sooner rather than later. But with Kearney & L'Estrange, it's obviously not as simple as there's the quota issues to take into account. I'm surprised to see Platt is out though as I didn't realise that. With his form this year, he very much deserves a contract, as he's been excellent in almost every game.

From the others, I'd say Shaun Ainscough & Shad Royston are doing well enough to be worth new deals, but I'd give them a little more time yet as they've only just come in. Arguably the others though still have something to prove so I wouldn't necessarily go rushing in with them yet.

Hopefully this will kick start Nick's season. He has had a rather slow start to the year but he had a massive game against Cas 2 weeks ago and I expect him to kick on from here.

Nobody said it was going to be "exciting" though. All Stuart said was watch out for an announcement on Monday. It was folk on here getting orgasmic over wish-list possibilities that gave this innocuous comment a life of its own, was it not?

Great news and I always enjoy his one or two a game blockbuster hits, I think he's only going to get better and with his omission from the England team it'll give him a little but of hunger to make the step up he needs.

As others have mentioned there's a few others I'd like to see signed up but this is a good step in the right direction, at the end of the day Nick deserves the new contract and a thread by itself without us all getting het up about who's OOC next year.
