SUSPENSIONS & FINES
D2.27 A player's suspension takes effect from the day following the meeting at which his suspension was imposed except in the case of period or permanent suspensions which shall take effect immediately. The following games shall count towards a player's suspension provided that he is otherwise eligible to play in the games concerned:
(a)
Representative games in which the suspended player has been selected to play or be part of the squad. For this purpose, "squad" means those players selected to be on duty for a particular game or to be part of the official playing party for a match, tournament and tour;
(b)
All games in competitions in which Clubs are expected to field their first teams;
(c)
One Academy team game played over a weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) during which the player's Club has no first team match (except see D2:21(c) below); and
(d)
One pre-season game which has been sanctioned by the RFL; but
(e)
In the case of an amateur Academy player, Academy games at the level (first team or Academy U21s or Academy U18s) at which the misconduct occurred, unless otherwise agreed in writing by the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal, only.
D2.28 The following games shall not count towards a player's suspension:
(a)
Academy team matches played mid-week (Monday to Thursday inclusive). When a Club, as a matter of policy and with the sanction of the relevant Committee plays its Academy team matches in mid-week, and that Club has no first team match played on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday following that mid-week date, then the Academy team match played in mid-week will count towards a player's suspension;
(b)
Those games which are classed by the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal as friendly games other than the one game included pursuant to D2:20 d above;
(c)
Games played in limited age competitions unless the player is eligible to play by age (i.e. is not an overage player) or unless the relevant misconduct occurred at that level of competition or unless otherwise agreed in writing by the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal.
D2.29 If a player is suspended for a stated number of Matches or is given a period or permanent suspension, the suspended player shall not play in any game until his suspension has been terminated unless approval for him to do so is given in writing by the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal.
D2.30 If a player is suspended from playing in a match, he shall not play in any other match on the same day but no more than one match in any one day shall count towards a player's suspension. Only matches played with the same Club or in the same division as that in which the misconduct occurred shall count towards any suspension unless otherwise agreed in writing by the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal (such agreement not to be unreasonably withheld).
D2.31 A player who plays in a Match whilst still under suspension without the prior approval of the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal shall be guilty of misconduct and shall be dealt with as the On Field Operational Rules Tribunal may think fit, which may include reference to the Compliance Manager to be dealt with under Section D1.'" |

Once you have a couple of well rounded reports/comments such as those on this thread, what's to say? It's hardly clear that this means we've turned the corner, or that Macca isn't as hopeless as a lot continue to think. The odd choice of dropping Matt Cook, Deacon's continued presence and the patchy defense hardly merits a massive confidence boost, though of course it was a good win and some good rugby was played.
After all we beat Saints and Wakey back to back, had the bottom two clubs lined up and a chance to build a decent run, but we failed miserably to take advantage, that kind of frustration takes a lot of venting and from today's performance it's not at all clear the players won't revert to pretending not to know each other next week. Of course I hope we consolidate, push on next week and have some confidence lined up to beat saints at home spurring us on to a late season push in to the play-offs. When that happens I'm sure they'll be more reason to discuss where the so called 'NT' got it all wrong. But I'm not holding my breath just yet.

dont see why it should tbh. apart from two conversions from the sidelines all the kicks were from infront off the sticks which sykes is perfectly capable of getting. And a kick out on the full was deacs only contribution to the ingame kicking iirc. If anything yesterdays performance has added to pressure on macca to drop deacon. |

Of all our performances this year I thought this was closest to "par", ie best sums up the standard of the squad. Some good stuff mixed in with some sloppy play. A typical mid table level performance. If we maintain this level over the course of the rest of the season we could pick up a couple of places in the table, but not much more.

I agree, he should have copped a ban for it really. Unless there was more to it than I saw, it looked like a clear case of joining a fight when it was nothing to do with him. As I said shortly after my "he's in bother" comment though, the fact he is due to play for England next week means he'll get off with it. The RFL (erm allegedly) have a history of not banning players for big games or internationals if they can avoid it. |

Dunno, maybe because the jury`s still out? To me the only essential difference between the game and quite a few recent efforts is that we got the points. Whilst we scored some good tries, defensively we were just as ineffective close to the line as we`ve been all year on occasions, particularly on the right hand side.
Maybe we got an extra slice of luck with Brough having an off day with his kicking, which definitely reduced the pressure. To me this is pretty much how we`ve played all season and IF I were of the Macca out persuasion I wouldn`t have seen anything to change my mind to be honest. |
