He'd started criticising even before the game started by complaining about rotating players when it was only week 3.

I don't often listen to BCB as I'm usually at the game. I was unable to make the last 2 so thought I'd give it a go. I think next time I'll stick to updates on Twitter as I can't stand to listen to Hobbo being so ultra negative again. I wouldn't mind if he just made his point and moved on, but he doesn't. He drones on and on and on about the same bloody thing for the entire game. I feel sorry for the poor bloke next to him (Mick in this case) who has to put up with it and continue to be nice, when he probably wants to gaffer tape his mouth.

Hobo makes Stevo sound like Ray Warren (ish). He constantly repeats himself, doesn't know which player is which and he constantly repeats himself. Can't believe Bulls TV use their commentary. Thank God they are there though as anything is better than nothing when you can't get to the game.

But yeah I agree, I can't listen to games on the radio because the commentary is nowhere near good enough. Even on the brief highlights on Bulls TV I'm cringing at some of the commentary.

They spent the whole of the Fev game calling Walker, Alex Mellor and he wasn't even playing

I've always had a soft spot for BCB, mostly because of how low rent it is. Pleased for Mick, he's the best main commentator they've had since I've been listening.

Hobbo's rubbish, in post match press conferences as well as with the mike. He's willing to fight referees mid match though, and you can't really ask for more from a colour commentator.

I agree on Mick, he's a very good commentator. Especially for radio rather than TV too, as he's quite descriptive which of course you need more of when you don't have the images to go along with it.

He can be annoying outside the Media, but I hope the Bulls insist on him doing the main commentary for BCB if they are going to use them for the soundtrack on Bulls TV matches.

Hobbo spent too many years along side Bobby Hamm and basically is a clone of his type of commentating!

I think Mick's a decent commentator from the little I've heard.

I just watched the highlights and thought the commentary was great. Particularly as the editing process largely got rid of Hobbo.

Be careful... We had this conversation last year and I got a right telling off by someone who knows Hobbo and apparently he does it all at his own expense. Fair play to the guy if true but he is awful.

I listened to the Whitehaven game (well I tried to) and Hobbo was saying what a great performance it was... 10 minutes later when we conceded a try, it turned into "this performance isn't good enough and we won't get into SL playing like this"

Mick on the other hand has been a breathe of fresh air.

It is true that Mark does his BCB commitments for free, not to mention his company sponsoring games for the past two decades. But you can't let that detract from his heavy handed and uncalled for critism of the performance all the time.

Technical issues aside I thought Mick was excellent and will be good to hear him grow as the season progresses.

Apparently Jay Pitts just precautionary and is good to play on Sunday. Three out of three, long time since we've started a season so well.

It is very commendable that he does it for free. But as Pete says, that doesn't make him any good. I'm sure he's a champion bloke away from the commentary booth and he's clearly someone who cares a lot about Bradford Bulls. But that still doesn't make me leave the radio on when he's doing my tree in.

So Hobbo is like Ray French then. Loves the sport, nice bloke, good to have a chat with about the game but not born to commentate.

Ray French was pretty good on the radio. He just didn't have a clue about doing it on TV.

Totally agree with that - it was like two quite distinct people. Though the difference between how radio and TV [ishould[/i be commented on is also two quite distinct jobs, to be right. You can't just add a radio commentary to a TV match, for instance, you just don't need all that info when you're watching on screen.

Mick Gledhills commentary has been very professional and easy to listen to. As good a local broacaster as I have heard for a while.

Yeah, I'm waiting for Lord Lucan to come on and say how brilliant 'Hobbo' is, and how Mick is the new Ray Warren.

He is a great advert for us not getting Bulls TV: His commentary was simply unprofessional and disgraceful to the Bulls.
What impression of our team and Players would someone who was a new supporter to our game get after listening to a completely scathing commentary about a team he is supposed to support, what happened to the stick up for your side and never give in legend we have at our club?? From his perspective not actuallly worth supporting, and don't go to the Bulls v Leigh game because Leigh will give us a thrashing>
The commentary will have helped our crowd figures no end?
I felt very dispirited and down after that, I also felt it was the Bulls who had lost, not Swinton.

Having watched the full match, Hobbo has to go, he's worse than Stevo these days unless he feels that Sky might use him as a replacement, Gledhills fine but he will be a bit embarrassed by some of his fo pars if he watch's the match! probably just to Hobbo's inane ranting!
