Yeah I think you're right.

Usually we're the Thursday match and Saints/Wigan the Friday, but they occasionally swap it around.

It's certainly no new thing to play on the Thursday before Easter though (whatever they call that day), so I'm not sure why it's such a shock to anyone this year. Unless of course they've never been before the cheap tickets.

Also just looked at 2003 - there doesn't seem to have been an Easter fixture there either......?

If my memory serves me right, the reason it was swapped around in 2009 was because either Wigan or Saints were playying away at Catlans on Easter Monday thereofre the rfl deemed it fairer to allow them an extra 1/2 days rest / travel time.

The RFL want to play 2 rounds of the league over the Easter period, and the only way to do that is not to play any games on the Saturday or Sunday to give teams enough turn around time. Sky show (at least) 2 games per round and so to fit in with their schedules always pull one game forward to Thursday and push one game back to Tuesday.

or at least thats how it used to work before they decided to stick the hull derby on good friday too. so they now show 3 games from 1st round and only 1 from 2nd round. They stopped showing tuesday game last year. Why they couldnt put hull derby on the monday and still show tuesday game is beyond me.
