Owen Farrell over at Saracens is looking like he's surplus to requirements. Might be worth a punt.
He's got an RL pedigree. Plays centre/fly-half. So would provide competition for the half-back role.

Farrell is keeping henson on the bench..scored all their points at weekend and hit post with his other 2 attempts.

Funny I thought he was the golden child at Saracens.

I watch alot of rugby union Owen Farrell is currently Saracens first choice fly half. They have signed Charlie Hodgson fr next year but I think he will be back up.

I think if we do invest in the Aussie market it will be either a prop or a half back (6 more probably)

TBH, at the moment with Briggs coming in, we don't really NEED another player. But, we've got a spare quota spot and probably a fair slice of our salary cap to play with IF someone exceptional becomes available.

But there's no need to spend just for the sake of spending.

Better to save that money for when St Helens are ready to play ball with Leon.

true, but question is do we see him as slotting straight into the starting 6 slot or is he more a longer term option ala southernwood, in which case we could well start season with kearney at 6 to give kyle time to learn our plays etc and take some off pressure off him. Then phase him in gradually a few months down the line. I think he's probably in line for a 1st team start sooner than southernwood as hes a fair bit more experienced, albeit not at SL level, but still not sure if hes ready to be thrown in at deep end. whereas kearney and herbert have been working together on combinations for a couple of months now. Only seem fair to give kyle the same opportunity on the training pitch away from the pressure of actual games imo.

And thats also assuming we dont sign a senior SO in the meantime. Although I tend to think any further senior player signed would probably be a forward or a dedicated .

I agree with all the above about Briggs, Tbh I think the Number 1 shirt could go to Royston. And 2 and 5 well Raynor and Ainscough for deffo.

I personally think Briggs has been signed to go straight in at 6, everyone was happy with Kearney at 1, and Briggs himself is worthy and deserving of having a crack at SL.

Unless Paul's just referring to the number 1 shirt because it's one we've all discussed at here in length over the last couple of months? Just a guess.

Could be that we get the squad numbers in their entirety on Thursday now the Briggs signing is done and dusted.. there's no need to spend cap money and quota spaces on someone just because the facility is there to do so, I think personally you may as well wait for the right option!
