My 'prediction'

.. an Aussie, about 5ft 6, 13st (ish), under 30 and a former national league player of the year.

One that's not been in this country for approximately a year or so?

if he's an aussie and he hasnt been playing in this country this year then he'd have lost any quota exemption he had. Which leaves us back in situation where we dont have quota spot available.

One that immediately sprung to my mind (and I don't know height and weight) had somewhat odd circumstances. I'm trying to rack my brain to remember who won the bloody national league player of the year! I can only remember 2009 and 2008 off the top of my head.

Forget it, i've just twigged on to someone who fits all that criteria. Should have concentrated on the height.

Although I wasn't aware he was out of contract, thought he had another year.


(My earlier thought was Damien Quinn, but I'm pretty confident I know who Paul is referring to now, and he's been here long enough to not be quota)

Incidentally, in an odd twist, if Paul was correct, we would be uniting that player with the guy who won the YOUNG player of the year award for that division that same year.

I can think of one who might fit the bill for the 2nd one but not sure if he won national league POTY. And if its who I think it is then he was playing down under at time quota rules changes so wouldnt qualify for an exemption.

got me scratching my head, but then I dont really follow national leadue too closely. I was thinking ben black who's had 2 stints with fax but was down under when quota rules changed. Other off the wall one I thought off was robbie. no problem with quota, but over 30 and dont think he got POTY in his year in NL with salford.

Platty was indeed young player of the year for Salford just before Cas signed him (which I didn't actually know until tonight).

wasnt he linked with us last year, before he re-signed with wakey. Cant see wakey releasing him and not sure he'd actually be a better option than sykes/kearney tbh.

I'm saying that these 3 sources are super reliable and trustworthy, and that I wish they weren't because I don't think this is the kind of signing we should be going for. I don't agree with the caliber of the signing, if they are indeed correct.

However, if it does come through and is announced between now and the new season, then I'll obviously give the guy a chance.

So we hope for Fielden and Pryce, and end up with Dowes and Obst!!

I'm a fan of Obst who has been the best player by far this season for the Wildcats and caused us no end of trouble at Odsal last Sunday.

But I still hope that we can get Leon back.
