| Quote ="Bullseye"Great effort. Inexperienced team. Not helped by the loss of Mendeika early on.
Hope knock to Bentley isn't too bad.
Thought Wilkinson ran his blood to water.
Notice Sharpe moaning about the ref and the conditions on radio Leeds. Simple solution Jon don't throw heaps of forward passes and lose discipline.'"
Bentley looked like a cut to the ear rather than any muscle injury. Pryce didn't look to be in too much discomfort when coming off. Mendieka didn't look great.

| Really top effort from our young lads, I don't agree it was an even game, Fev's pack bullied ours all day, they had all the field position, which all inevitably tired us out for them to be able to score late on. The only disappointments for me were the unforced errors repeatedly made on early tackles, pis.sing away rare possession in theur half. Very frustrating. But, a bit lioke the season so far, punching well above our weight, and giving a generally great account of ourselves, in truly appalling conditions. Just hope we have no bad injuries, and it was well worth the admission.

| Size matters. Or so the wife keeps insisting.
Seriously, size was the real difference today. Our starting back row was tiny, we had 3 fairly big props to rotate but they were clearly knackered and could have done with a 4th to spell them more. They had a big pack. In conditions like today, that made all the difference.
That being said, had their pack been smaller or ours had Murray, Roche & Larroyer playing, I don't think there'd have been much to separate the sides and we may have stolen it.
You couldn't fault the effort today. Some are lacking size, some are lacking experience, some are lacking ability (I'm looking at Macani here...), but I didn't see much lacking of effort. Which makes a refreshing change from some recent years where we've had bags of ability but in players that don't look that bothered.

| Injury update from Leigh Beattie in the T & A:
Quote “James Bentley had to come off with slight concussion, Brandan Wilkinson had cramp which he couldn’t shake off, James Mendeika was off with an ankle injury and Leon Pryce had a slight groin strain so we took him off as a precaution. The last 12 minutes we didn’t have anyone else (to bring on).”'"
Also, have we extended Scott Moore's deal for a further 4 weeks? Does anybody know when his court issues are set to begin?

Reckon we could get away with playing Phoenix on a Holiday Visa? He's just having a kick about with his mates, he's not actually working properly.....

Well Toovey's visa was supposedly 'mere days away' when it was last mentioned. Which was, what, over a week ago now?
I'd rather have Oledzki back before Phoenix anyway.

EVERYTHING? We can't get anything at the moment, still I'm happy that Scott Moore is here for another four, though they may well have made it a proper contract as just the four - lets be honest, the longer he can stay the better and if he can't stay due to legal problems it would be voided anyway (presumably).

| You'd think it's not beyond the wit of man to write a suitable contract along those lines.

You'd imagine that any basic contract would have clauses connected with non-compliance or being unavailable to fulfil the terms. Getting yourself in bother with the law and being locked up would surely come in with that, I'd have thought.
That said, some police officers have been found by the courts to be a bit, errrm, shall we say, gung ho with the old taser equipment, and it has to be said that, 'assaulting the police' [ican [/ibe little more than the sort of stuff which gets you a ban in RL when it comes to the ref. Probably the reason why the CPS don't always prosecute if the evidence doesn't match the rhetoric.
At the end of the day, none of us knows what happened that day, so hopefully the idea he won't be available is wide of the mark.

Unfortunately not otherwise we'd have about 17 Aussies in by now.

| Honest assessment. Both sides were really poor, neither played the conditions well. Fev played them slightly better. Fev's pack were the difference. Everytime they took the ball in they made 5-10m after initial contact. Our lads didn't. Our lads were poor in that respect (not going for legs to chop, even the senior players didn't) only one that really did was Butterworth to be fair. Go forward was poor.
HOWEVER, with all respect to the lads we had such a young side. And they never gave up which was impressive. Once them lads put on a bit more size they will turn into good players. Impressed with the minutes Wilkinson and Hodgson did. Well taken try too! Nice to see some brains out there as well with Keyes going for the drop goal!
The cup distraction is over and as I said before, the cup weeks in the future will be welcome weeks off for our lads to rest and get over any future injuries. Hopefully the likes of Batley, Fev, Swinton, Fax, Dewsbury and Oldham all get tough fixtures (or each other) in the next round and it takes momentum from them

I just can't bring myself to say we played well when we didn't haha. But as I say the attitude impressed me a lot. Over the past 7-9 years our team would have given up but the young lads didn't! Hopefully that attitude stays with them over what will be (hopefully) a long career for them!
