Saints have told him that they won't take up the option to keep him next year, and apparently Mr Noble doesn't want him as part of his Salford revolution!!'"
I have to disagree. He is a poor player, evidenced by the fact that neither Saints or Salford want anything to do with him after this season.
Anyway, let's wait and see what happens with Addy first, hopefully we manage to keep him.

All sounds positive. Extra backroom staff, a squad of around 30 and another signing shortly.'"
It would be interesting to speculate if we had had the luxury of a squad of 30 and an expanded backroom staff this season where we would be sitting in the league now?
Could this be factored in FA's excel crystal ball

| I'd imagine that if we had those assets in place this season that we'd not have seen the poor run of form that has seen us drop from 3rd in the table to 10th.
The lack of squad depth was always going to be the main factor in how our season played out. An improved back room staff can mean that injuries can be better assessed and prevented rather than just be treated. Cummins will know what sort of back room setup is needed for success. He's seen it in operation already at Leeds. It also looks like the additional staff will improve the players coming up from the academy and mean we should see an improvement from the homegrown lads.

| Add the that the lack of respite from playing the form teams wigan, wire ,leed and then hudds a week or so later is going to be a killer for any team, if we had, had a lower order team in between them we may have picked up an other point or so, and us throwing games away.
But that's history now, can only look to the future

Hope the club keep Addy and Donno as otherwise things are shaping up well.
Just to consider the pack,
Props
Scruton, Nas, Sidlow, Carvell + possibly Evans. Still one short in my view but certainly moving in the right direction.
Back row
Olbison, Ferguson, Bateman, Walker, Roberts, Mellor + possibly Murphy = Not enough players, not enough size, no natural 13, not enough experience and/or grunt.
Overall, I say taken together, we look 4 senior players short of a pack that could realistically challenge for top 6.
I know there's a rumour about Kaufusi but add Donno and Addy into that back row mix and suddenly it looks a lot deeper. maybe not top 6, but certainly much better.
Feels like we're on a knife edge. A couple of re-signings plus a couple of further signings could see us really push on. Fingers crossed.

I agree completely re the backrow. We need to either keep Addy and Donaldson or get better players from elsewhere. If Kaufusi does sign and we keep Evans (either on loan or permanent) then the front row is looking as strong as it did in 2012 (Burgess, Hargreaves, Kopout, Scruton, Manoakafoa, Joseph). The backrow hasn't been the same since we lost Elima. A look at the 2012 squad shows what is needed in terms of depth to get in the 8.

| Addy and Donaldson are both very different loose-forwards that add different attributes to our team. Addy is good in attack, but poor in defence. Donaldson is the opposite. I would like to see both re-signed.
I too am liking the look of the front row for next season. Scruton and Carvell starting, with Manuokafoa and Sidlow on the bench. Even better if Kaufusi signs.

A little harsh for me. Poor isn't the word for either. Donno is the best defender we have without much question but plays like a second rower rather than a loose forward. I always feel he runs too centrally. Don't forget that he hasn't had a preseason this season.
Addy's real strength lies in his versatility but his best position is far and away Loose Forward but is way less consistent playing in the halves. If Donno played in the Whitehead position in attack (essentially running at Centres) and Addy had a little bit more to say in the middle I think, with Olbison, we'd have a cracking home grown back row.
It's just a shame that we haven't got both signed up.

Steady if not spectacular TBF. He won't get as much game time next year as he'll be fifth prop in pecking order although injuries will mean he does get games at some point.

I thought Sidlow may fit into that role, seems to have a bit of pace for a prop.

| Hmm, I'm not sure I like the thought of Evans defending further out wide. Defense is not his strong point at this stage in his career.

| He's not as agile as you'd like a backrower to be but he certainly hits hard.
He's improved with gametime and will benefit from a proper pre season. I'm happy that we're keeping him a bit longer.

| For a guy who isn't the biggest prop around he's got a fair bit of 'bump', but maybe second row may suit him better.
At the end of the day, if he's been pumping iron to gain weight for propping he's not going to be at his most agile and with a slight change of emphasis in his training regime he may well become more agile and gain some speed too. I may be being over optimistic but I've never been a big fan of having 'tunnel vision' with regard to what is the best position for a young player.
