The only reason I remembered it was my bus stop where I catch my bus home on an evening is the one opposite the T&A building, and they have a mostly unmolested sign still attached to the building. If it was summer and I was regularly cycling home I'm sure I'd have forgotten all about it.
But I do remember Bob Holness quizzing a Bradford resident about Bradford's Bouncing Back on Blockbusters in the 80s.

Yeah, "We're Backing Bradford" just isn't [iquite[/i alliterative enough to be memorable, I guess.
How about " Burgers Backing Bradford's Bigger Bounce Back to Become Better"?

I cycled through Manningham every day for 10 years without much trouble. I walked home numerous time late at night as well. I must admit I'm not sure where Bradford Moor is exactly.

Sort of between Fagley and Laisterdyke, more or less. Oh, and it's fine to walk through.

Dolly Parton briefly considered buying a flat in Doncaster. Then she stopped smoking Bob Holness and changed her mind.

Of course Bradford has much more to offer than Donny, new transport interchange, direct rail link to London, new college, new theatre being built and pride of place a new 15,500 all seater stadium.
Looking at the facts as hard as they are to stomach, Bradford is being left behind.

you can get a direct train to London from Bradford and in the Alhambra and St. Georges hall, there are 2 very decent theatres to check out the top names that are still coming to Bradford.

| With respect mate, if you don't want anything to do with Bradford then you know the courses of action available to you. If jibes at your town prick against your civic pride I can suggest not starting a thread telling people of another town that everything to do with where they're from sucks and should be swept under the carpet simply because you, a person from far away, choose not to be associated with it.
Choose more decisively.

My girlfriend is from Bradford and i lived there for almost a decade, the point of the thread was not having a go at the city of Bradford which is not really my problem, but was to highlight what in my opinion would be a better marketing ploy for the club which as i have had a season ticket for for seventeen years is my business.
I don't see that there is a connection between the city of Bradford and what happens at the club, other than the location and judging by the amount of people i see on the M62 going to Odsal not everyone lives in Bradford. If the crowd was made up of purely people who reside in Bradford then fair enough maybe i am wrong, but it isn't so i don't see as changing the name would be a bad thing at all. I only have the future interests of the club at heart.

Who mentioned the current mayor? The prevoius Mayor was an Independant.

Another one to Bradford. Given the population, we probably have more loony tunes than you, but we don't vote them in as mayor......

Bradford Council always covers itself in......glory?
As i said i am not concerned with what does or does not happen in Bradford or a point scoring exercise of my town is better than yours etc, my concern is for the long term future of the Bulls in regaining a position at the top end of Rugby League which in my opinion would be easier to sell to sponsors etc without the 'Bradford' tag. I am not trying to wind anyone up with this, i am just looking at this from the point of view of potential outside businesses looking in.

Which is a fair point to make. My opinion is that all that matters in that regard is success and profile. Changing the name would have little positive impact on that and would, I think, be outweighed by losing local identity with Bradford.
Yes, there are many fans from outside Bradford but the core are the locals. I would have thought peoples response to your suggestion would have demonstrated that people are attached to the town and having its name associated with the team.
Keeping the pledge numbers high and a return of form will bring sponsors in regardless of the name. Anyway Bradford Bulls already has brand recognition that you would be sacrificing by changing the name. When people ask me who I support, generally they know who we are and how successful we've been.
As I said at the start, the stories you were concerned about aren't visible outside Bradford and everywhere has the same problems. And anyway do you think calling ourselves Northern anything would help with UK wide sponsors? "Northern" hardly has any better connotations for most.

I only selected 'Northern' as an example, but in respect to the history of the 'club' rather than its location.
I always purchase a season ticket even if i can not get to games due to work etc to do my bit even before we had the pledge.

| Just to lighten this up a bit, but on a related subject of perceptions of hometowns, an amusing (well to me, anyway...) little anecdote from when I was on holiday at a decent hotel in Cyprus a couple of years ago.
At the weekly manager's cocktail reception for all the guests, we get talking to a woman who seemed fairly full of herself. Talking posh and acting frightfully upper-middle class and all that. When asked where she hailed from, she replied "just outside Harrogate". True to type, we thought. She was a little taken aback though when we said we lived not that far away, northwest of Bradford. After some more discussion, when it became increasingly clear she was not keen on saying precisely where it was she came from, she finally had to say.
Cleckheaton.
It was amusing that she did not feel even Leeds carried the kudos she was looking for! Hope for us yet.

Yes, but apart from that & better range of curry houses, better range of ales, the National Film Museum, Alhambra, St Georges hall, Saltaire, what has it got that Donny hasn't?

No, mate Bfd Council doesn't cover itself in glory - far from it, it's as bad as any other to be honest, and on the 'hole in the ground', for not putting proper penalty clauses in the contract with Waste of a Field it was criminally negligent, imo. That was the 'old' lot of course, though the 'new' lot haven't proved much different, as yet.
If you're not concerned with "points scoring" why did you start it?

This is a bit similar to a discussion on one board or another, some years ago. There was a woman/girl who even though she lived directly between Buttershaw Mills and the Buttershaw Tesco, insisted she lived in Wibsey.
