Website just says Sykes and Herbert 'might' return to the squad. No list as yet though.

| If Sykes is back, I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in at Right Centre with Platt moving to the wing.
Not saying it's necessarily what I'd do, but I can see that being what Potter does.
If Sykes isn't back, it means either playing Bateman or Crookes in the centres, or Finigan on the wing.
I'm certainly not a fan of playing either Briggs or Herbert at centre. If Herbert has to play, I'd rather try him at loose. But for me, he wouldn't get back in the side until Jeffries and/or Briggs do something to warrant dropping.

with whitehead on wing? would have thought we'd keep whitehead at and play sykes (if fit) or halley/finnigan on wing. I know whitehead effectively played wing for a lot of wigan match but that was through necessity rather than choice.

| We could use Jefferies at fullback with Royston on the wing or shift Platt out their.

thought you only meant using platt on wing if sykes was back. Seems logical to try and keep team as settled as possible, so bring in a winger for raynor. halley and finnigan are both fit afaik, unless we're saying they arent worth trying, in which case sykes has played there before at least. not keen on sykes in as his defense can be a bit hit and miss.

| think we'll go with sykes ahead of crookes from that squad. which combination of sykes/platt plays wing/ is up for debate. Crookes and herbert to miss out for mine, unless we try herbert at loose in which case probably olbison to drop out. unfair to drop either briggs or jeffries after last week.

| by the criteria I have given, ie as few changes as possible in players and position, that team fits best - Crookes is described as centre/winger which is why he is the best fit there. But yes, you could change the players and their positions, in which case herbert would more logically be a centre than a loose forward as he may be tall for a scrum half but for a loose forward a bit light, Donaldson at the same weight has been dropped from the squad and he is a far more logical alternative than Herbert for LF. I nearly had Herbert as sub instead of Olbison, but the accent has to be on defence, I dont care if we win by 1 point as long as we win so I went for another back row. an alternative could be Sykes full back Royston centre and platt wing, but thats moving a few players around when really we need a settled side that the others have to force their way into.

Hmmmm
Personally, it would be Sykes and Herbert to miss out for me, but we all know that won't happen. Herbert, assuming he is fit, will play, and I expect Sykes (for some unknown reason) seems to be always picked.
So I guess it will be Crookes and Briggs to miss out. That wouldn't be my choice by any stretch. But that's what I think will happen....

I suspect both will play. To be honest, unless he's going to have a late fitness check, there's little point in adding them to the squad if he has no serious intention of playing them. As has been pointed out, we did well enough without them last week, so it's hardly 'make or break' that they play.

| I'm sorry, I know people know this already
But he CANNOT drop Briggs or Jeffries this weekend, especially Briggs.
What does it say to their confidence that an out of form Aussie is being picked over them? I'll be appalled if potter drops either for the sake of Herbert.
