Club of the year. WTF is that?

Im sure when teams set their goals at the start of the year one of them is 'lets win club of the year'.

Of Note - Super League or Challenge Cup.

I'll add that to the Leeds list. Infact without researching I'm not sure if we've won that one....maybe because nobody gives a s*** about it!

Note means Challenge Cups, Grand Finals, League Leaders Shield and World Club Challenges.

I heard Michael MaGuire has set his team the huge task of retaining their 'club of the year' award as their main priority!!

That was embarrassing.

TBF, I've only got the Carnegie 9s left after this in my lifetime and I'm 37!

Forget the silly awards why don't you just say: We've not won anything for a long long time, but we are a club that is on the up and soon enough trophies will start to come our way. Everyone will agree and you Hudds fans won't look silly banging on about your MOS and COTY.

Get off it pal. You must be the only person in the history of the world who gives a ship about the club of the year award.

Not trolling, i am from Huddersfield and want us to do well, but more of a R.L fan. I have been to odsal as many times as the Galpharm in the last year or so and who cares who did what and when. The bulls are a team on the decline in class and in crowds, it happens in all sports. Huddersfield are a side on the up and after the dross of many years it's taking time to build crowds up, but they are getting there now. It's when youngsters get involved and see a winning team that a new cycle of fans emegre and it's all to do with what goes on, on the pitch. Your diehards are there through thick and thin, your floating and new supporters define your salary cap and progress.

Todays game was a classic example of one team on the up that every player wants to be a part of, a coach they respect and love and a team spirit rarely seen in modern day sport, every player wanted the ball, even when well in front they were back slapping, trying to score right up to the last minute.

Bradford looked a team on the decline, not much spirit, no coheshion, many looking like it was pick up a wage time. That is from an outsiders point of view, it's sport and Bradford and Hudds may go in different directions in the future, but for now it's only going one way, the glory days are over for now for Bradford, Hudds can acheieve anything in the next few years.

There is quite a few, we've had them on the Leeds board in the past and now their banging on about them on here.

Never mind all Leeds' SL titles, we've not won a MOS award so we're inferior to Hudds.

No mate as I'm not anywhere near 50. I've come to the conclusion that quite a few opposition supporters are quite jealous of us it must be because we are a good team. I didn't envy your club when you won everything going, quite a few of my mates are Bulls fans and fair play to you back then.
Now it looks like our fortunes are changing and we are going to be a force in SL for a few years. Its just quite funny how our near neighbours up the M606 are looking on in envy at how our fortunes have taken a turn for the good and how big a gulf in class there actually is between the two clubs now.

But it's the trolling thread and every post is 1 nearer to 10,000!

Then we'll have something 'of note' - Gold Member status!

Bit same as giving a damn about crowd of the year I suppose?

can i just point out to the bulls ( and rhino fan) that to compare the fortunes of leeds,bradford and huddersfield is just plain stupid.i started watching fartown in 1987 and as anyone who knows anything about rugby league will know that huddersfield were a club on the brink of death,a decline that set in in the late 70's early 80's had well and truly struck us! there seemed little hope for the club and gates were down to a few hundred,meanwhile leeds and bradford and even halifax were blazing the trails and we were a hundred miles behind, i used to watch us get beat by trafford,chorley,bramley etc in front of a few hundred people then watch the big guns on scrumdown,dreaming that i could watch top flight rugby league!.
slowly but surely we picked ourselves up despite almost going to the wall 3 times in 10years,finally in 1998 i got to live my dream of watching top flight rugby, despite the fact that we were truly woeful in those first few years,we went down and came back up stronger. i still dreamed of competing with leeds bradford etc until we slowly started closing the gap,and now we find ourselves as equals,despite the fact we have had the better over the bulls the last few years.
i cringe sometimes when i see or hear our fans try and make out we are bigger and better than what we are,a little humilty is lacking sometimes, but it's only the last few years that huddersfield can say that are equals with leeds and bradford and considering the gap that has been for the last 30 years thats truly remarkable.
we haven't won anything in 50 years no,thats true,we haven't won anything of note,thats true, but to try and do us down in comparision with leeds and bradford is just crass and embarrassing.
sorry for the long winded rant but i will revel in the fact that we've beaten bradford again but i will never try and claim that we are bigger than them in recent times.
bradford had great success which was good for the game as a whole,but had very little of note to show before they became the gods of super league,im sure most bulls fans felt the same as i do when they went to wembley in 1996 and won their first super league title some of them probably only dreamt of doing that stood on cold wet terraces along with a few thousand other hardy souls?

so what im saying is,dont tar all fartown fans with the same brush,we are a club that has come a hell of a long way,farther than any other SL club,we've almost had to start from scratch and we are doing rather nicely.put us down and our fans down but dont try and compare the 3 clubs.

Excellent post Meast. And to think, we will be disappointed if we don't beat Wigan next week. At one time we could never have dreamt of even playing teams like Leeds, Bradford and Wigan.

precisely my point raaaay, its all very well these bulls and rhino's scoffing at the fact that we've won nothing for 50 years but its hard to imagine that 25 years ago just getting 13 local lads to face runcorn was a massive achievement,winning anything never came into it all we wanted was a club to support.
we might not win anything ever again,but boy did we give it a bloody good go!
