He will get his chance, but not against Wigan. Despite Raynor having a bit of a shocker last week, his defence is considerably better than Ainscough.

TBH I think if it had been a crucial game herbert could have played this week. Thinks its a case of looking at the bigger picture. With langley and briggs both out for significant periods of time, would herbert playing have given us a significantly better chance of beating wigan on sunday? If I'm honest I dont really think it would.
The way I think potters viewing it is this. If herbert is brought back too soon, in a game we dont really have a realistic chance of winning and then aggravates the injury and misses significantly more games then we really are in trouble given briggs injury as well. So I suspect potter is taking the hit on the wigan game to ensure that herbert is absolutely 100% for the winnable run of games we have coming up after wigan is out of the way.

| Ainscough can score from anywhere on the pitch given half a chance. Raynor cant. Ainscough deserves his chance to prove his doubters

It's not Ainy's attacking capabilities anyone is questioning though, it's his defence, which has always been regarded as suspect. And when you're playing against the team that will know his weaknesses better than anyone, I can completely understand why some may not want him to play.
If everyone was fit this week, I certainly wouldn't have picked him. But with that 19 man squad, I personally would give him a go, with Raynor on the other wing and Ah Van in the halves with Kearney.

| The Pre season games we have seen so far... Ainscough hasnt looked suspect to me and have played well in defence. Understand where your coming from though with him playing wigan. The lad has a point to prove though and i think it work in our favour

| Right I am seriously getting peeved off at most people on here so take a look at this:
1. Briggs created 1 try in the Leeds game. Kearney created 2 (from kicks) so do not doubt his kicking ability.
2. Addy is the same if not better than Briggs (may not be as fast) but he has brilliant hands and can kick very well, looks stronger as he is a little bigger.
3. Same team other than Addy for Briggs, Sibbit at Second Row, Whitehead at Loose and Sykes on bench.
4. Simple rugby beat Wigan last year.
5. Herbert probably wouldn't make much difference HOWEVER Orford did against them last year :/
6. Im sure the guys on the pitch will give 100%.
7. We are playing the SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS so it would be a hard task to beat them. Lets hope they have a good solid game and not to lose by much but I'm being optimistic by saying BULLS TO WIN.

| Its the fact that your already knocking the squad before they've got on the pitch. If Addy does crap then I'll hold my hands and say I was wrong but give the lads a chance. And you can hold me to that.

| No one is knocking anyone. The fact is we have no recognised halfs and we are playing the champions. Im sure our lads will give 100% i have no doubt and ill be there hopefully with thousands of bulls fans cheering on a bulls victory. But it is a very big ask. Stranger things have happened though so we will see. Lets all make plenty of noise sunday though

For the past few years when we were a laughing stock coached by a clown I got slated for being negative.
Now people are getting slated for being positive!!!
You really could not make this up.

I don't doubt his short kicking game at the line but compared to Herbert or Briggs he's no kicker for field position.

Are you agreeing with me then?
And fair enough no recognised halves. Kearney was great against Leeds. Addy has been great in Pre-Season as has Ah Van and whoever else has filled in at Half Back. Royston goes at FB, Kearney and Addy 6 n 7, Walker n Platt at 3 n 4, Ah Van and Raynor at 2 n5.

That's the bloke. I can forgive a guy who some doubted could make the step up from a championship side a few errors when playing in his first SL game in a tight Leeds v Bradford game in front of 30,000 people. Especially if he can nail the same kicking game he had for Fev all last year and for us in pre-season.

Then it is hardly the massive miss that some people seem to be suggesting then.
Christ, it is Kyle Briggs we are missing, not Benji Marshall!

And all I've said is that Kearney doesn't have the kicking game of either Briggs or Herbert. Why the histrionics?

There is no histrionics at all. It is just that some people seem to be accepting defeat on the back of an injury to a lad who, and I quote......
Quote some doubted could make the step up from a championship side '"
and it is being a bit OTT.
I ain't slating the kid but to suggest that him missing may be the difference between a win and a heavy loss is plain stupid.

Briggs was said to be just lacking fitness and then next minute hes out for 4-6 weeks??? The fans feel like they have been kept in the dark about it. However we have to look on now and see how gud the depth of the team is. Lets get behind the lads on sunday and not be all negative. Whats thoughts on team lads? Starting 13?'"
Angry? Why should the fans feel angry about the club not releasing the information? I'd rather the coaching staff kept us in the dark if it means not revealing all to the opposition at the start of each week.
Losing Briggs and Herbert is a blow, but it gives someone like Addy a chance who I rate fairly highly. I just hope they play him in his best position at 13. If 1-17 put in their best efforts on Sun then we'll still cause Wigan some problems.

Him on his own? Maybe not. Having no half backs compared to two? I think I can see how it might be a factor.
(I haven't suggested a heavy loss either FWIW)
I see your point, and I'm not unremittingly pessimistic about Sunday, but I don't think it's unduly pessimistic to change your expectations from happy with a win to being happy to compete.
I think I preferred you as a dour miserablist.

| This is another example of the lack of cover we still have in the halves! maybe we should have moved for Obst or seen as Wakefield are offloading other players even bring Jeffries back for a season?
Would have been a decent stop-gap until Pryce becomes available. IMO
