| This is pretty much what you might expect, and hope for, from a club in a rebuilding phase. Expect - to lose to a much more accomplished squad, which is going exceptionally well this year and has had time to gel. Expect - to be short of class and guile when a short squad is badly hit by injuries. Hope for - when the young players that have to play in too large numbers all acquit themselves well, put up a sterling if at times naive performance, and generally do us all proud.
The fact that the team was warmly applauded from the field says it all, really, most true fans know where we are at, and will tell the team straight how they thought it did. Yesterday it did great, and showed some real promise for years to come. A fine effort, and everyone's heart was back in it.

| Excellent performance, all the senior players stood up, the kids all performed well. Reception for the team from the stand after the game was awesome, all we want is for the team to put the effort, play some youngsters and lookto next season. This reminds me a bit of Leeds when Powell was coach and he had threw ine Burrow, Mcquire, sinefield etc because injuries. Look where they are know.
Just one point to finish off with, 4 of our last 5 loses have come to Leeds, Warrington x 2 and Huddersfield whilst having lots of key players out. If that list had included Salford, Cas,Catalans etc then we would have problems.
Much happier this morning, cann't wait until next week. COYB

| However misguided Halley may have been in berating the touchjudge, let's face it he had nothing to berate him for, I thought it was a positive sign to see some passion from a player in the light of the disinterested shambles that went a week before it, and has all too often gripped the team in the last couple of years.

Absolutely. Halley has his flaws but one thing he does seem to have is some passion for the Bulls. I'm a lot more forgiving of mistakes from people like Halley/Sykes because you can see the effort and commitment is there.

Agree only partially, getting himself 10 minutes in the bin won't help the Team! Discipline is important especially when we aren't playing well. What we really want is somebody who will get us penalties, Sculthorpe can do hat but also will give them away.

Straight away after the hooter I thought, they've done us proud. Even though we lost, this is one time where there are plenty, and I mean plenty of positives.
Hopefully next week we'll see :
Kearney
Sheriffe
Platt
Nero
Halley
Sykes
Southernwood
Scruton
L'Estrange
Hall
Whitehead
Langley
Menzies
Godwin
Crossley
Kopzcak
Worrincy
With Addy and Olbison to complete the 19 man squad.
Southernwood MUST be kept in the halves, not just because he played well but also to keep the rest of the team in their best positions.
If we play with as much effort, passion, commitment and desire next week then we'll have a good chance of winning.'"
agree with all of that. only change which may be forced on us is if halley gets a ban in which case wardle/reardon/crookes to come in if any of them are fit. depending on extent of injury may be necessary to rest scruton too, as playing him with a knock and potentially making it worse would be a major blow, in which case debut a burgii or have langley do a stint at prop (although I dont like that idea on his first game back). Can't see any reason to drop southernwood out as he needs gametime with 1st team to learn the set pieces and combos. and like you say it means other players able to play their best positions so makes sense to keep him in even if it does make us slightly less creative while he learns the ropes.

| One incident not being mentioned is the Wire 1st try when Menzies was obstructed. It was interesting call by Bentham, are we now saying you can be obstructed as long if you don't fall over or make an attempt to tackle?
I reckon if Menzies had fallen over or stopped and thrown his hands in the air the try would have been instantly disallowed by the video ref.

I'm not saying it was a good thing to berate the official, and it's not something I hope he's going to start doing every game, like Bully Boxer says I think a player like Halley can be forgiven the odd incident, if he starts doing it all the time it's a different matter.
The way I took something positive from it is that, a week ago in Wrexham, the impression was that a lot of them didn't really give a toss about what was going on, and wouldn't have been bothered enough to get angry about something.

If you're talking about Menzies, he didn't go to the crowd because he was lined up by Sky for an interview. He did wave to the fans after that, but there wouldn't have been that many left to wave at to be honest.

Absolutely. McLemon is just quoted as saying they were never at the races, but then damns Crusaders with faint praise. Twas ever thus. The losing opposition fans are convinced their team was "poor". Or even "very poor". It rarely had anything to do with the other team, no disrespect ever of course being intended, except well they are actually crap and that is a way of saying they are crap and I have no respect for them without me actually saying the words.
A common variation is where one team is poor, but wins, but only does so because the losing team was "very poor".
Teams rarely if ever win because they were bloody good on the day.

Leeds losing to crusaders was the worst case scenario for us. Leeds will be looking to bounce back next week now.

| well played by lads on sat thought cain southernwood had a good game and glenn hall had his best game by far took ball up well so did koppy.think score line flattered wire in end as there 1st try was obstruction no 2 ways about it and thought the call in the 2nd half where it should have been back to six and smith gave a change over swung game their way as wire were on rack at that point.
thought the ref was very one sided as caught us not standing square all time but wasnt looking when wire were defending and thought briers in 1st half should have been in bin for 10 with stiff arm as was a profensional foul he knew wat he was doing

I agree with that, bit of fire in the belly will never hurt! From someone so young aswel it's good to see him developing as a bit of a leader. Needs to find his best position and stick to it but a bright future i think.
Short term though, you should loan him to Wakefield for a couple of weeks again, he was on fire after his spell there last year

I only got round to watching the video yesterday but yes, that was an outrage. It was a blatant obstruction, he cut Menzies off, and menzies was the tackler. Inexplicable decision.
They also want to have a look at the second Higham try. Plunging over from acting half is one thing, a la Lowes or Cunningham, but on that one, he went left, then checked and came back right, around the man playing the ball, using him as a shield. If he hadn't gone the other way first, I would have no problem with it but seemed like a definite case of using the man to me. TBF I am not saying it led to the try as I don't think we would have stopped him as we weren't properly set. But as I understand it, as soon as you run round the back of your own man an obstruction is deemed, whether the defenders would have got you or not. I don't see why different rules should apply on the line.
