If you looked back (and I'm not suggesting you do - we both have better things to do) you'll see I have indeed made this point on numerous occasions. Can't speak for others, obviously.
And yes, I would have thought broadly the same on salaries.

Tony Fisher is out of rugby work. That's what you need, make them overpaid Aussies do press-ups in the snow & kick them in the face when they fail. Builds character.

| Quote ="Bullseye"Now I'm a big Lowes fan but is bringing him in really the answer? Sure he's got a better pedigree as a player than the current two assistants but his record as a coach at Salford and Warrington leaves a lot to be desired.
Remember too that there seems to be three people being shown the door and one recruited. Is this another money saving exercise dressed up as something else? If Clawson is going we're going to need another conditioner and one who is an improvement on the current bloke not just someone who can remember how we trained six years ago.'"
As of yet I don't think any of this has been confirmed, especially the Lowes to Bradford part. The first part surfaced on here yesterday and you have to wonder if that's where it was picked up from. Don't get me wrong I have been calling for this a an interim solution for ages but if it happens the right people need bringing in or it's a pointless exercise.

| I hope it is true. If w are stuck with Macca then this is the next best thing and our fitness levels seem to have needed improving for a few years now. Maybe Lowes can instil our current team with some pride and passion?

Don't get your hopes up. It's lack of ability and quality that are the main problems. Jimmy giving rousing speeches isn't going to solve that.
What we need is coaching staff who can improve the players we've got technically, bring on the kids and have the ability to change things around when we're struggling. The players need to have confidence that the coaches know what they're talking about too.
Lowes's record as a coach isn't great. He'll always remain a legend as a player but don't let that blind you to his lack of coaching experience.

Surely those are the areas which are regularly touted as Macca's strengths?
Its the "ability to change things round..." bit that surely is the most worrying of those issues?

By who? There doesn't appear to be any evidence to suggest he has any strengths. If anything he appears to have stiffled players who arguably played better under previous coaches in other teams.

| Macca undoubtedly has done well in attracting promising young players to the club. As far as bringing players on how many players can you say have improved significantly under his coaching?
I'd say Kopczak has improved but others have actually got worse or at best become more inconsistent e.g. Platt, Newton, Sykes, Burgess, Deacon, Langley.

Sorry, I was referring to the academy not the first team donkeys! Anecdotal evidence, even then.

Well now I think your being a bit harsh here. Look at Nero to take one example. The likes of The Punisher and Konichwabitches were flogging him as a poor signing but Macca has improved his form this year. Also Halley has shown improvement after Macca gave him an ego check by sending him to a lesser club.
Come one Mr. Bullseye, always look on the bright side of life!

| What about Shane McNally for coach. Though he did a good job for Wakey and then he was unfairly dismissed in my honest opinion. He probably also familiar with many of our players from the Wakey days - Tad, Jeffries, Sol etc. And Obst if rumours are to be believed.

Nero's had the benefit of a decent pre season. He's admitted as much himself that his lack of pre season last year left him playing catch up. Besides, even you must admit that anything would have been an improvement on his showings in 2008.
As for Halley, it seemed his spell at Wakey was the catalyst for him getting a regular shot in the first team. Some might say he should've had that shot ages ago when he was playing second fiddle to McAvoy.

Perhaps another money saving tip for the club, play a different DVD each session and role out a few mats.

| If this was true then for once I would have to credit McNamara for pulling off a masterstroke.
Fans favourite so it would look like McNamara is on the ball but also a complete failure of a coach who would not be likely to be any threat to McNamara's position as a head coach.
Macca and Lowes eh? As coaches of RL sides it really has to be said that two wrongs does not make a right.
