last weeks news, same as menzies re-signing. strange how neither have been confirmed by club yet, almost like they are saving some positive news for buildup to wigan game

As a club we usually save new signings until the end of the playing season (mid August this yar then) choosing instead to announce resignings. Generally when they come out mid-season it's because the other club involved announces it.

If there was/is anything to that rumour (never sure there was too much in this one TBH) then we could still sign him as 6 to replace the outgoing BJ. IIRC Wing wanted to play 6 rather than 9 anyway when he moved clubs last time.

no we usually don't announce signings from other superleague clubs until seasons over. Overseas signings are usually announced as soon as they are made, for example hall,menzies,morrison were all announced during season. which is worrying as it does tend lend weight to rumours linking us to a half from another SL side rather than an import. which would mean one of thorman,brough or myler. cant see us being able to afford myler, brough brings off field problems which leaves the distinctly poor option of thorman.

I wouldn't care about Brough's off-field issues, he's still a quality player and one of the best in the league on his day. But anyway, it's still early days.

Same here. Plenty of players have off field issues and plenty have big ego's. Plenty of them are great players aswell.

As for Brough would be a great siging, miles better than the halves we currently have even if he does have a few problems. Just a quick note. If we are going to get any signing or re-signing info ahead of the Wigan game it will proably be tomorrow as it's not often we get the big news on a weekend.

Whilst I'd be surprised if we did land Wing, why would Hood say anything different? He is hardly going to reveal to a fan who we're trying to sign before it is signed and sealed/officially announced.

No he wouldn't.

He might say 'we're always interested in quality players' but I doubt he would reveal who we're trying to sign.

I suppose so. I'm not trying to prove anybody wrong, and I really do hope we have signed Craig Wing, but imo it's unlikely. Wing 6 and Brough 7 would be a quality partnership though.

And on this occasion he might well have been telling the truth, but like I say I doubt he would have said any different if there was some truth. It sounds like Wing is trying to leave Souths so I'd expect we would at least be making an enquiry about his plans. He'd be a massive signing and would be just the type of player we needed to get some positivity back on the terraces.

If we did sign him as 6 then we probably would have to put up with Deacon for another year, but as I keep saying Brough and Wing would be a quality partnership. I do think we need a centre aswell and next season we should see Burgess play in one position. Once we have the extra prop in Hall (plus he can cover SR)
