| Quote ="mat"some good points there adey. and tbf we've had solomona and tupou sidelined all season who between them will have been taking up a decent chunk of the cap whilst not contributing anything. so while it may seem as if we were well below cap this year in terms of the players on the field, when you include tupou and solo I reckon we probably only had enough free cap space for one decent player.Next years a different matter. Whilst we've spent a bit on improved deals for halley and lynch and maybe a very slightly improved deal for sykes plus bringing in hall, when you look at some of names that its looking like we're losing then we must have enough space to bring in at least 2 or 3 quality players. whether we can afford to spend upto the cap next year given this years attendances without going into a loss making situation is another matter entirely.'" The club never had any spare cap space the Bird deal was all dependant on Solomona being released.

| You cant release a player and not expect to pay him, if he walked into another side and got a pay rise fair enough he might agree to being released from his contract without payment, but you cant just so bye bye no more money for you.

Plus you can terminate a contract for being overweight and unfit it falls under the performance clause in the contract.

| I'm a big of Morrison but unfortunately he hasn't played enough. He will be on a decent wage up there too. With Morro, Newton and Cook going it does free up a fair bit of salary space.
The signing of Hall is a start, a good solid player who does plenty of work. L'Estrange would be a good replacement for Newton. The big area of recruitment next year has to be a top quality half and a game winning centre.
Plus I'd like more game time for the kids that are coming through. I don't want us to be signing any 'randoms' just to make the squad up, I'd rather give one of the kids a go.

I agree with that 100%. And I'd add that the rest of this season needs to include more game time for any reserve/academy players we think might be 1st teamers next season. We're not going to win anything this year (including two or three games on the spin) so we might as well use some of these remaining games to test out some ideas for next season when its appropriate. (IE play two prospects and give them 40 min each a game or similar but dont throw too many in the deep end at once.)
On the recruitment I've said before and I'll say again that IMHO the success or failure of our recruitment this off season starts and ends with 6/7/9. Get this wrong and we can forget next year.

| Still no blog. I think the club may have told him to look elsewhere for another contract. I hope not, if fit, Morro would be exactly who we need on the pitch.

Exactly, I said while ago that with all our promising youngsters in the back row I couldn't see resigning both Menzies and Morrison as a realistic option. If we have resigned Menzies (have I missed the official announcement by the way or is that still unconfirmed?) the club might have taken the same view and his injury record probably hasn't helped his case. One of the best players to play for Bradford IMHO but I think he might be elsewhere next year, which will be a shame but might be the most sensible call. Wakey and Featherstone (!) have been mentioned on other threads as possible destinations for Morrison.

| Blogpost includes two paragraphs of what seem like pretty frank and honest observation, from one of the few guys who can hold his head high in a team of general underperformers. I suspect few on here would take issue with what he said since he seems to be echoing general sentiment? Some pertinent extracts:
Quote ="Morro"There aren't any positives we can take for the past two weeks and we are letting ourselves and the fans down very badly...'"
You agree with the fans then, rather than with your head coach who came across as being in denial? Maybe your head coach would have attracted less derision had he been as candid as you.
Quote ="Morro"...we weren't very smart and it cost us. In the second half we played like we didn't know each other, which is very worrying. '"
And again. Nail. Head.
Quote ="Morro"Each week we all keep saying we are going to turn it round and hopefully we can do it this weekend because we need to...'"
Yup. Sounds like confidence is shot, tbh. A home win against Wigan would probably do wonders (until we then go on to lose against Salford and Celtic again...
Quote ="Morro"...The one thing that has been good is the team spirit. The boys are sticking together and we have said that no matter how much bad press we get or negative comments we've got to stick together and try and come through the other end... '"
Encouraging if true, as suggests no trouble in the camp. But all the sticking together counts for nothing if we see more of the same on the park. And as have the fans - but we need something to believe in right now.
Quote ="Morro"...Believe me we are a much better team than we are showing at the moment. We have got the quality there to win these games and we are just not doing it... '"
We know, and we sort of noticed that. See above!
Quote ="Morro"Maybe a few of the young boys coming through will get a start now and give us that bit more energy that maybe we are lacking at times during games.'"
The really interesting bit. Is this Morro's hope, or is it proxy-for-Macca? Either way, again he's agreeing with the prevailing opinion on here. And by implication Morro is criticising some of his fellow players (and too right!). Don't think he would have said this unless he thought it likely to happen - unless he does not agree with the head coach. I suspect though we'll not see too many changes until we've lost another game or two and the play-offs are mathematically gone.
At least someone is telling it how it is!

tbh it came across to me that he does not entirely agree with what Macca has been reported as saying, at all. And the club sanctioned it. So make of that what you will, I guess?

TBH Morro is one of the better looking players, his ears are in the perfect spot. Now Deacon, his ears are all over the place, & he should be sat in the stands permanently.
