| I'd take Thorman over Deacon. I'd also take him as an extra to Jeffries to create competition in our halves.
If he was coming in as a straight replacement for Jeffries though without any other halves coming, I'd be somewhat disappointed.
Thorman may not be that good these days, but having 3 half backs of ANY kind is better than only having 2 that are guaranteed to get picked week in, week out.

That article is full of stupid statements
Quote ="Steve McNamara"“2007 was actually the year everyone expected us to miss the play-offs. We then finished third and – if not for Millennium Magic and salary cap point deductions – it would have been second. That all raised expectations for this year.” '"
No. What raised expectations is that, at that point, we were still the 2nd most successful side in SL. We're a team that should be fighting for championships, not scraping at the bottom of the table.
Give how things are and that it can take some sides a year to get up to speed in SL (Castleford, Catalands, HKR are what I'm using as examples here) i fear that next year, if there are serious changes at the club. We'll be 14th

We're a team that very nearly got relegated within less than twenty years ago. A team that went out of existence in front of three hundred people less than fifty years ago. If you're going to appeal to the annals of history, at least try to leaf through a fair spread of the pages.

I do think that back in March (or whenever it was) he put in probably the single best half back performance we've seen at Odsal this year. I'd have signed him on the spot then.
If we were to sign as a 3rd half / utility then good. Otherwise bad.

I don't see any great improvement by bringing in Thorman to be honest. We have enough poor defenders as it is without recruiting another one. He's another inconsistent type who can play a blinder one week but be shocking the next. I'd like to think we could at least bring in one creative play with some proven quality at the highest level.

I agree there are better out there. However if it's a choice between just two half backs at the club, or two half backs + Thorman, I'd take the latter option. We've had two seasons recently with only two recognised half backs, and all we've seen from it is at least one of them in very poor form and still getting picked every week no matter what.
Competition helps, even if it's mediocre.

I see where you're coming from but I'm getting a bit depressed with too many 'short term' signings. The way I feel today, I'm already writing off next year already! I hope we receive some positive news in the next few weeks, something to lift the gloom that is hanging over most fans right now.

| While Thorman would offer cover, it's not cover that is the real priority.
What we need is quality.
We need quality at halfback (either stand off or scrum half), and loose forward. If Newton goes we definitely need a quality hooker. Godwin may be willing but he's not good enough to be No1.
We also really need some quality in the backs. Don't really care where but at the moment we have nobody in the backs who is a genuine threat to the opposition or who could get us out of a sticky patch in a game.

Indeed - the decline is ridiculous.
What I want to know is why the club are not quite so keen to make any statements about things at the moment?
The fans' forum just proves that you can fool some of the people, some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

I can't say I bought into the things said at the forum. It was all hot air to me. Like everything that has come from the Bulls in the past 2 years.
I can remember Macca claiming he was sick and tired of people talking about Bradfords demise, yet months later he has done nothing to halt the demise and we are now further in to it.
He's got to go, it's as simple as that.

Not at all RER.
What I am getting at is that from the reports I heard about the event is that the club cleverly tried to divert attention away from the current situation by talking up this "Building for the Future" stuff and the much lauded Paul Medley speech.
Given the reactions of some (again from reports), this tactic seemed to work and people took some comfort away from the evening and whereas the club should have faced some tough questions from angry fans, they were probably quite delighted that their clever tactics went down so well.
If we carry on like this there will be not much of a future at Bradford RLFC and how they managed to deflect the fact of how badly we are playing at the present by talking about things that might not even happen is a bit of a mystery to me.

I cannot agree more here. I will be bitterly disappointed if the recruitment doesn't at least improve this area of our squad. We have too many holes to plug in one off season but we need to see SOME improvement.

Is he quick enough to play six?
He will fill out a bit yet and probably isn't quite fully grown just yet, I don't think you need to be that big to be a good quality 13.

| He's only a couple of inches shorter than one of the best ball playing 13s in the league, in Kevin Sinfield. He's only 17 so probably got a bit of growing left in him
The weight will come when he puts some muscle mass on. Look at the likes of Burgess and Langley, although you could argue the weight they put on hasn't helped.
It would be nice to have a creative 13 again. Been a while since we had one.
