| There's no doubt Jackson was a greta pop singer & put out some great pop stuff with great musicians, if that's what turns you on. I prefer some of the Jackson 5 stuff, probably because the well known stuff has been played to death. But IMO he has done nothing in 20 years that has vaguely interested me. He had all the production & technology available to him & utilised it, but I doubt his later stuff will sound fresh in 40 years time, whcih is the difference between him & someone like Hendrix. Or Cash who was still producing classic stuff up to his death.
Keep the sick jokes coming, there is little in life I find beyond a sick joke.

The only reason Nirvana are seen as the band of the generation is because Alice In Chains were completely overlooked over here

This is uncanny CB - we ARE in full agreement!
Nirvana were better marketed. Dave Grohl is now in a much better band following Cobains' death and I was always of the opinion that Nirvana were not as good as other Seattle acts such as Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and for the first two albums certainly, Pearl Jam.
AIC were a top band.

For the sake of a balanced argument, Cobain did not kill himself by heroin (such an icon you do not know how he took his life?) and, although unconfirmed at present, I doubt Jackson died of a heart attack brought on from having plastic surgery.

You need a Court conviction to be a pedophile?
IIRC, OJ Simpson was never convicted of his ex wife's murder either...... ..... and Pol Pot never set foot in a Court of Law....which must tee off the relatives of the 2 million his regime slaughtered......unless of course they subscribe to your point of view.
Perhaps sleeping with young boys and describing it as a "special love" is a Norfolk pastime as well?
He was simply another loopier version of Garry Glitter.....with a better lawyer,..... and the financial resources to pay out an estimated 18 million dollars in hush money.
His music from the eighties is another matter entirely, and was outstanding for that era., and worthy of comparison with previous pop greats.
He, however, was well past his sell by date as an artist, but that won't stop the music industry, who wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, from making millions out of his fairly predictable early demise.

Berry Gordy on Michael Jackson's death
[urlhttp://classic.motown.com/[/url
Personally I've not had much time for him since the Jesus act at the Brit awards. But I think he was sadly a man troubled by a number of issues which you have to take into account for some of his bizarre behaviour.
I prefer to remember the music. Especially the early stuff.

Possibly?
Plus you have to admire the way he proper did one over that self absorbed, patronising get Paul McCartney by taking him up on his advise and outbidding him for the Beatles song rights when they came up for auction in the eighties. Macca had to sit back and watch him coin it in by selling the rights to a Coca Cola advert.
Class.

He was shot/shot himself (depending on pov!) of course, but tried to ruin/end/f-up his life with heroin and came v.close several times.
There is a lot of similarity between the two maybe. Both so unhappy in themselves that they want to ruin their bodies and lives whether its by drugs or by surgery.
I have no doubt that Jackson's death will have been connected to the abuse he put his body through. Whether the surgery or the daily doses of mercury/god know what else.

A great album indeed, considering Nirvana was never my kind of music. Same for the other bands mentioned. I dare say a little before my time.
