| Brilliant!
I've met countless people from other EU countries. Never once has one of them complained about their loss of national identity due to being part of the EU. And these are countries where you can travel at will between without seeing a border or guard.
French, Germans, Italians, Spanish are still as different as they ever were, but as Jo Cox said, we share far more similarities.

| I do not think that the Leave side have a chance TBH. They really have a poor collection of frontmen/women out there campaigning.
During Indyref we were lucky as we happily voted to stay IN the UK despite of the main spokesperson being Alastair Darling, rather than because of him. He was abysmal!
As I will continue to say, the seperatists make all the noises, shout the most, rabble rouse better, but ultimately there are enough sensible people out there who are not taken in by their nonsense.
However, I must say that I expect a reasonably poor turnout up here for this referendum. There has not exactly been a lot of crowding at any of the polling stations I have driven past today. Perhaps, like me, many of my fellow Scots are all "referendummed out". We got nigh on 90% turnout for Indyref, I will be amazed if we top 65% this time.

JM Keynes worked out how to treat a recession over 70 years ago but seemingly this lot can't read. A bit like on the rugby field, I don't mind mistakes but stupidity annoys the excrement out of me.
For what it's worth I wish we'd been given the option of joining Scotland When they had their own vote - I'd have voted Nat for that...

A large turnout will favour the Remain campaign as those who waver at the end tend to go for the status quo.

| If this board is a perfect microcosm of Britain, then the poll suggests it's going to be close.
I'm not entirely sure this board is a complete reflection of society though...

Not too sure about this board being representative of Britain since the general opinion seems to be that Yorkshire is a strong 'leave' area - that certainly corresponds to what I hear on the streets.
If that is actually true then the dead heat on here suggests remain would probably just squeak it over the whole country.

| Oh god. I despair. We've voted for an economic wasteland. Purely because we want to make it our wasteland and have control over it. The only silver lining I can see is there is now no reason at all for UKIP to exist....

| Do I feel it's the correct decision? No. I voted Remain, and I will still insist the vote is massively disappointing.
But am I comfortable with a lot of Remain campaigners now declaring everyone racists and imbeciles? Also no.
I know plenty who voted Leave with perfectly good intentions and shouldn't be labelled as such. To say it's a victory for racists is IMO incredibly offensive to those people and shows a complete lack of class.

| I hate the voting system in our country. 36.8% voted to leave, 35.1% voted to stay, 28% didn't vote.
So on that basis, we are leaving the EU on the decision of 36.8% of the country.

I've seen loads of this over social media this morning, and I feel the same as you.
There's a lot of bitterness going around, which is unjustified.
If anything, last night showed how out of touch both Labour and Conservatives are with their voters. I think we could see a drastic change in politics in the near future.

Thats worrying statistic. Admittedley I didnt vote but I didnt because I didnt research and make a decision based on pros and cons of many things, if I had voted I would have voted out purely for the reason I dont want Turkey to join the EU and personally I think its wrong to vote on a decision of such magnitude just on that basis. That said I saw an interview yesterday I think it was Iain Duncan-Smith saying on the 30th of June they were starting the first steps to inducting Turkey by starting looking at the country's financial situation, and it may have still taken 10 years for them to be accepted. I have no idea still what it means to be in or out, may seem pure ignorance but I never thought about i until reading this post.

Yes, indeed it IS a democratic decision and one that we have to respect.
Sadly though, I live in Scotland and our leading party do not understand a democratic decision and will now push for a second Indyref that they will probably win.
Therefore, I have been shafted twice by the English and Welsh voters today. I have always wanted to remain in both the UK and Europe. The vote south and south west of the border has shaped my own country's destiny. The Freedom Fighters will be delighted.
As for Northern Ireland? The Sinn Fein will be sharpening their pencils as I write.
The Welsh have made their bed. Scotland will go, NI faces a very uncertain future and the Union is now a two-team league.
The eurosceptics have effectively ended the Union.

Precisely. I assume that 28% includes those who spoiled their ballot papers.
If you didn't vote because you just couldn't be bothered, you don't deserve to have a vote. However those who genuinely didn't know and thought it best to leave it to people who were more knowledgable, therefore turned up to the polling station and spoiled their paper or didn't tick a box, I have respect for.
If I was sat with a bomb disposal expert in front of a load of C4, I think I'd be happy to not have a say in which wire he cuts (yes, I've watched too much TV, but the point remains).

I would say every single person I have spoken to voted out mainly due to a dislike/fear of immigrants & immigration, & an attitude of superiority over other countries, especially those from poorer &/or more desperate states, or a hostility to being told what to do by forriners (preferring being dictated to by an Eton Oxbridge elite). This board has been an exemplar of respect & good debate.
At the moment I don't give a toss if people find that offensive. I will be ok, I am well paid & well qualified, I have a relatively good pension, I can take my skills elesewhere. But I fear terribly for my country, for my class & particularly for my friends' & family's children. As this country descends even further who will get the blame & who will be left to stand up for them?
