I was always brought up to understand that democracy in U.K. gave us the right to say what we want where we want and to whom we want if in a proper manner and whether or not you agree with these opinions I would defend their right to express them or are we becomming a police state and we become gagged for certain types of comments. I agree with judge 666 what has it got to do with Bradford Bulls but to the question of violence at these types of demonstrations the violence predominently seems to come from the rent a mob type of spectators who seem to enjoy a punch up. I think let the marches take place and basically ignore them and they will become pointless but to demonstrate and cause violence against them only highlights their cause.

You do have the right to say what you want, in a proper manner. Is this a proper manner? In a rally in a town centre? I am sure lots of people hold a lot of views that others might find distasteful. They don't call a rally to announce them.

And why Bradford? Of all places. An interesting choice don't you think? Do they all live here? Do they f...? So why come here?

The EDL are made up of a lot of people with criminal records for violence. Hence why nobody in their right mind would want them in Bradford. The city has enough problems without it kicking off again thanks to a load of out of towners coming here to cause trouble.

These demos are put on by EDL to cause trouble. That's their cause. They want bother. That gives them more publicity.

That's why there is unlikely to be any counter protest too.

Cracking publicity to be had from being banned as well though.

The study I cited says the proportion of black, Asian and other ethnic minorities in the country (not just in Bradford) will rise from 8% of the population, as recorded in the 2001 census, to 20% by 2051. If we have a statistician aboard they could probably work out for you on that trend the date when the proportion would exceed 50%.

A rise from 8% to 20% in a mere 50 years seems quite a staggering shift to me, and all I was saying is that something would have to [ichange[/i for Muslims [inot[/i to become the majority. All things remaining equal, it doesn't need a genius to plot a line. I have no clue whether the forecasted growth is linear, but for example it was, then the 50% mark would be reached in 150 years. It would also be very bad news for the country because if my basic arithmetic is correct and using the cited trends as a basis, then the figure would be based on a UK population of something like 120 million.

You might be worried, or paranoid, I'm not. My knowledge of the racial/religious make up of the Midlands is not brilliant, same as yours I would imagine, but there are far more British Asians of Indian origin as a proportion than in Bradford, certainly in Leicester. As far as I am aware I have never had any hassle whatsoever from British Indians, just fractionally less than from other Asians, but a whole lot less than from Anglo-Saxons.

I don't believe i'm paranoid, just realistic. I'm not sure of the statistics around the country you're right but i do know that Islam is probably the biggest developing religion in this country, i just find it concerning.

Maybe its the only growing religion? The others are pretty well all in decline.

At the risk of sounding what some would call Islamaphobic..Yes i am concerned about certain elements of Islam and how many muslims seem to be becoming more radicalised.

You only have to walk around the streets of Bradford now to see this for yourself, far more female muslims wearing full body and face covering than 10 years ago and in some places a total division in cultures. I also think that a religion that is Homophobic, Intolerant towards other faiths and demeaning to women does not fit into western society and culture.

You fail to see the contradiction in what you are saying. The elements of Islam that concern you are apparent in our society already, & have been for generations. Does that not concern you, or is it just when Muslims do it?

And you fail to see what i'm saying. Yes there are elements of all the above in all sections of society and i along with most others condemn it. Unfortunately Islam is not widely condemned and when it is all hell breaks loose.

Isn't it the normal trend for immigrant populations to increase at a rate greatly exceeding that of the indigenous population for a few generations, but then for birth rates to fall to roughly the same levels? Unless there is a considerable relaxation of immigration policy isnt it likely that the growth in the immigrant population will be far from linear but instead will eventually taper off?

I've explained above the reasons why i am criticising Islam, i am not condemning all muslims so don't twist it.

And yes i do criticise Catholics such as birth control issues, paedophiles in the church etc. As yet i've not had any need to criticise Hinduism or Sikhism.
