Exactly. From what I'm told it's up to the club where a player is going to make the announcement, and even then it has to be signed and sealed via the proper channels.

Take Burgess, he may well be off but until all the details are sorted neither club will make a formal announcement. Once they are the most you'll get from the Bulls is that he's moved on or is no longer at the cluib. It's up to Souths to make the main announcement. Same applies to Godwin and Salford.

we announced nero was leaving without mentioning where he was going before salford announced him and IMO we should have done the same for wagga or any other departing player.

Difference being that Nero was out of contract and turned down a new deal. So if Salford then didn't announce the signing and backed out at the last minute, Nero would still be leaving.

Godwin was under contract. If they backed out at the last minute, he'd be staying with us and no need for an announcement.

Sad to see Godwin leave, he always gave 100% and was one of my preferred players last season however I know that’s definitely nothing to go by after a disappointing season. However with Diskin and Heath he really would of struggled to be get in the 17 man squad each week. I just hope this means were making room on the salary cap for a new 6/7, as long as we are not rushing into the sake of buying a 6/7 and purchasing more dead wood then I am fine by this. If we don’t have any plans of using this freed up cap space then we definitely should not of let Godwin move on and should kept him for competition for places however I have a bit of faith in Potter and hope he does have his eyes on a Sutton or a player to a similar par of his ability. As for Leon in a new Bradford home/away shirt don’t think we will see it unless his brother is really stuck from Christmas presents.

There are perfectly good and valid reasons why monies may be outstanding to the toerag, which may or may not be down to the agreed timing of what is paid when. Remember tax has a big bearing on all big player packages and most especially those of overseas players, and the nature and timing of how the package is delivered can make a huge tax difference.

If you have a commitment to make certain payments, if you fail to make those payments then you are in breach of contract and are open to legal action for recovery and costs. Therefore, if you are in contractual dispute with another party the correct course of action - especially when the other party appears to be in breach and you are the injured party - is to counterclaim for damages or whatever on your own account. Or "play hardball", as the reports would have it.

I rather suspect this is the current situation.

And its about time some "top" players and some scumbag vermin agents learned that contracts are two-sided affairs.

With regards to the announcement coming as a surprise, I'm guessing it will either surprise those who thought we owed Orford money, or those who thought we were owed money for Orford. Only time will tell which one of those scenarios it turns out to be
