If it happens I will be very happy for the club as it will most likely mean a resurgance in attendance and possibly a second golden super league period for the club.

To build up the tension they should transport the pile of rubble that was on Broadway for a couple of years up to Odsal.

Rarther than pooh poohing the council we should be giving them our support and letting them know in no uncertain terms that we are backing the scheme. Let all our councilors and MP's that we want THEM to back the plan and not let it slip onto the back burner. If we keep pushing you never know what might happen.

I've had quite a bit of dealing with Gerry Sutcliffe and he has always struck me as someone who gets stuff done.

You really cant blame people for poo-pooing the council, those who live in Bradford have had to put up with the debacle of a town centre for a good number of years and the "on/off" development of Odsal for 30 ish years.

I just wonder if the 2012 completion date has been plucked out of the air as this would be the completion date you would need to put on your Superleague application form in 2011.

I really do hope that the Council get their acts together and deliver their promise for once.

But as a Halifax supporter I know only too well what its like to be promissed dates by the Council.

The amount of money peed down the Odsal pot on consultants for a litany of pie-in-the-sky schemes would probably be enough to pay for the entire 2012 Olympics. this sounds like it isn't even on the drawing board yet, which is not what we had been led to believe.

I was about 5 years old when I first heard talk of developing Odsal, I am now 38 and still visit the same Odsal, so forgive me for saying I will believe this when I see it!!

I also think a few people might be surprised by the level of opposition to this use of public money from the non Bulls supporting people in the city, there's a hell of a long way to go.

Think that one thing that comes across in the article is that a lot of the funding is coming from external sources. this should go someway to counter the critiscm that public money shouldn't be used to provide a new stadium for a private company as its made clear in the article that the scheme provides facilities for , and will be partly funded by, cycling,gymnastics,netball and tennis as well as rugby league. This together with tie in with university/college should bring in a lot of external funding. By no means a done deal but certainly positive news.

Totally agree, having done some digging today, certain steps seem to have been made which give me optimism.

Having worked with Yorkshire Forward before, the fact that they are on board is also an encouraging development.

I know Uni people are involved but doubt any Uni money whatsoever will be forthcoming. The College are keen by all accounts though.

If it is going to happen they will need to get a move on. If it doesnt happen in the next couple of years before the money runs out it wont happen for at least a decade.

The initial planning, a few drawings etc is the first step. The key step is getting the money together. All the organisations mentioned ie Yorkshire forward do not have any money themselves but are skilled at getting interested parties/companies/private money on board. In this climate that will be more difficult than usual. And yes - building work needs to start by the end of the season next year to be ready for 2012 - not a lot of time to get fully planned & contracted up

Did you work with them on something in Leeds?

If they are involved I think we have 2 options - get the public of Bradford to say they are strongly against it or convince them that Odsal is actually in Leeds, "Yorkshire" Forward will fall over themselves to get the project sorted then.

Well I'm feeling Bullish about the future - a new season soon and more positive news about the ground - hopfully it will rival the Colossuem when complete

The tactics are already in progress. Someone cut a hole in the roof, let all the water in and left it to decay. When it's too late to do anything about it the new plans can get underway.
