I'd have to agree. There's very little in the way of decent bars & clubs in Bradford beyond the west end. Though, you can have a fun night out if you don't mind slumming it

if it's drinks before the game then theres plenty of pubs near the ground or you could go up into wibsey. problem solved.

And if it is just a quiet drink with a few friends on Saturday night then there are better and more convivial atmosphered pubs around Bradford than you are ever likely to find in Leeds.

There's plenty of places to drink in Wibsey centre. It tends to be fairly lively on Saturday night - not town centre standard lively, but reasonably busy.

The weather is supposed to be going to be good for the weekend too and there's a couple of reasonable places to drink outside up in Wibsey.

There's also a choice of take-away on the way home and a taxi rank at the bottom of the hill.
Try not to make too much noise if it's after midnight though, some of us living nearby like to get some sleep from time to time!



If you want the whole night-club thing though you are better off in leeds.

I am taking it that the OP wanted to know where you can have a decent pint in convivial surroundings. Not a night club or "music venue".

Saturday night - I reckon a short pub crawl is in order. Some short taxi hops involved, but on a real ale theme:

1. Get a taxi to the Cock and Bottle in Barkerend Road (best ring to check opening times, of late). Real ale, and a gem of an interior. If n/a start at No. 2

2. Corn Dolly, bottom of Bolton Road. A real ale feast.

3. Shoulder of Mutton in Market Street (beer garden)

4. Beehive, Westgate - quirky, gas-lit

5A. If curry required, walk round the back to the Westgate, and then ring the bell outside the door for a taxi home.

5B. if ale not curry required, taxi to the Fighting Cock in Preston Street, IMHO the best pub in the world. You must fit this pub in somewhere along the route.

Sunday
Start at the inimitable Fannys in Saltaire, do the tourist thing if liked, maybe lunch at Don't Tell Titus (no real ale AFAIK) or the Tramshed at Saltaire roundabout, then a taxi ride to the Junction at Baildon bottom which has been the CAMRA district pub of the year fro the past 2 years.

Bit of a unique little "gastro pub" (hate that phrase) but excellent beer and excellent food too, (from 5pm Sun [url=http://www.markettowntaverns.co.uk/_frames/frame.asp?iLink=/uploads/Symp%20Brasserie%20Menu%20-%20Jan%2009.pdf- Brasserie Menu[/url) rather unexpected standard for a pub and usually some fine specials on the board.

He's not friends with me either, after the other Saturday Mrs Aardvark's selections came good (again) including Kirsty's Boy at 25/1, (daughter/grandson), Aye Aye Digby at 3/1 (an old Siamese cat, RIP) and Hawk Mountain at 7/2 (she likes birds especially birds of prey). How she does it, I don't know but I've long since learned not to ask questions, I just stick 'em on.

However on that day it co-incided with my personal bet of the day coming in (Sea The Stars) in the 2000 Guineas, hence my turf accountant's disgruntlement.
