| I too think Cook has come good. He's definitely a priority to keep. Credit to him for plugging away and working on his game, especially when a few of us wrote him off.
Like you I expect Morrison and Menzies to retire. However I am a bit concerned about losing those two senior players at once. Last year we suffered without Morrison when he was injured and as pack leader he'd leave a big hole. We'll have a similar situation with Menzies I reckon. Solo I expect will be allowed to move on.
Looking at the list I'd like to see us re-sign the younger players including Halley and James. Matt Cook's example shows that the younger players are worth some patience.
The lack of talent in the backs means we need to re-sign Sykes too. I would expect us to re-sign Lynch and Newton too.
We should have a heap of space under the cap so would like to see us looking at bringing in at least three quality players, primarily a halfback, a centre and backrower. Cook and Worrincy are likely to be longer term prospects with the younger kids coming through so we look strongish long term in the backrow. Time to use any cash on the much weaker areas in the halfbacks and threequarters.

| id recon sykes , lynch and cook will be sorted and annouced around mid-season
think
tad, jeffries and the young un's will have to see how this season pans out
beaver, morrison and sol , think it would have to be one hell of a season to use a overseas space on them next year

There certainly does seem to be a correlation between age and quality in the Bradford back-row. Arguably a short-sighted recruitment policy if they all retire or leave at the same time, unless Burgess is seen as a long-term back-rower as opposed to prop.
Wouldn't mind seeing Lynch in a Leeds shirt though

| Think Jeffries needs to extract the digit if he's to get a new contract. That said a new halfback pairing would take time to settle as would a new backrow and backline. The key will be to minimise disruption as it'll take time for a lot of players to settle. I hope the club learns from past mistakes in recruitment and we go for quality where possible. The current backline is seriously lacking in cutting edge and the halfbacks aren't looking too hot either. Any decent halfback prospects in the U21s or U18s?
Looks potentially like a lot of upheaval in the playing staff to come. We could really do with some of the youngsters to come through so we can get some long term continuity so we aren;t doing this every few years. Donaldson is seen as the long term option for loose forward I think. There's a few other like Tate and Olbison earmarked for the second row IIRC so I hope they come through. In the front row things look healthier where Scruton, Burgess, Kopczak and Crossley look quite strong. Lynch has plenty left in him too.
Thinking about it I wouldn't be surprised to see Morrison or Menzies get another year provided they're still fit and up for it.

| wouldn't be surprised to see lynch re-sign for Cas next year tbh although I'd love to see us retain him. Also wouldnt be surprised if one of/both menzies and morro go another year. expect solo to go and probably tadulala. Newton is a difficult one, if wagga continues to improve then could be right time for terry to go otherwise maybe a short deal?
sykes I'd keep along with cook and halley as they all count toward homegrown quota and are decent quality players

both signed at beginning of last year, 2 year initial contracts for players that age are quite common to allow club to have decent look at them in a professional setup. they'll both be signed to longer deals during the season.

Nope they didn't Andy & Michael Tate, George & Tom Burgess, Liam Kay, Joe Wardle, Adrian Raw all signed 3 year deals which takes them up to 2010.
You can add Ben Helliwell and Tom Lilycrop to that list as well.

Darn that Silsdenbull!
We look to have some great prospects in the forwards but I'm less sure about the backs. As a club this has always seemed to be the pattern for as long as I can remember, what's the reason?

Has anyone noticed how many players out of contract at end of the season? Link below
viewtopic.php? ... 0#13485390
I hope the club are working hard behind the scenes to get most of them signed up again..
Lynch, Morrison, Sykes, Cook have to be the priority for me also I think Newton should be given a new contract due to lack of alternatives, (now they don't let any english teams sign foreigners!)

| Lynch is the No.1 priority for me. Still young enough and hell of a player. The only thing going against Morrison is his age, but the way he's been playing, he's proving that age isn't really all that relevant.

| Jury is still out on Newton for me. Think we need some consistent performances and a relatively injury free year. Sounds as though he came into some form in France, let's see if he can continue it. A firing Newton would be a massive lift for the side.

| Lynch has to be a priority. I think he could get even better.
Newton is good when he's fit but he won't get a chance to have a couple of weeks rest until Wagga's back at the very least.

| I think Lynch will sign again as will Cook.
I'd give another year to Morro, it's important to have him around the place, he's still playing as well as he has for the club.
Menzies will probably go.
Not fussed about Sol or Newton. I used to be a big fan of Tez but he's not been up to much for a while now. Can really see him in a Wigan shirt next year to be honest.
Jefferies can go, far too inconsistent. I'd expect a big name at half back next year.

I think Jeffries and Deacon will be the half backs again next season, possibly longer after that.
