| I always felt Shelf roundabout was the boundary, pretty much running from the lights at Queensbury, through Hipperholme with Brighouse being the border with Huddersfield. I've no idea whether this corresponds to any real boundary or whether it is some kind of ancestral thing like Palestine pre-six day war.
Having thought about I believe Bailiff Bridge and Northowram were given to us by God. There!

| Shelf roundabout [ Stone Chairis quite near the boundary between Shelf and Halifax, though both are in Calderdale, of course. The Shelf/ Bradford boundary is actually a stream which flows under the main Bfd/ Hx road alongside the former [now business units Dunn Ridsdale dyeworks, which is about 50 metres after the top end of the Woodside estate when travelling towards Halifax.
The stream meanders around quite a bit, at one point passing under Cooper Lane just a bit below the end of Reevy Rd, which means the bottom end is in Shelf whilst the top bit is in Bradford. I could have given you the house numbers for the boundary when I used to deliver papers around there, however my mind is now so stuffed full with rubbish I seem to have forgotten them....

| Yes but they're only in "Calderdale" if you treat "Calderdale" as a legit place, it isn't, it's a purely bogus virtual admin area like "Humberside" or "Greater Manchester". When I lived in Shelf we were at the right side of Stone Chair yet had to pay council tax to "Calderdale". Well they may be able to take your money but they can't take your soul. Sob.

| Ferres in today's T&A says we've passed the 1500 mark.
I'm still yet to get mine, I'll wait until January I think.
Anyway, as you were.

| TBF Northowram is [imiles[/i the wrong side of Stone Chair so it's fair do's. What I like about Northowram (and I bet Norman loves this too) is that's where they change the name of Halifax Road, which runs all the way from the wrong side of Odsal roundabout, into "BRADFORD ROAD" all the way through Northowram. They obviously couldn't stand to see the H word ...
It'll be like a daily dose of sunshine, that!

| To be fair to Norm FA, I don't think there are many Bradford Roads in Bradford either...
Huddersfield is the same, if you follow Huddersfield Road to its logical conclusion you'll find it's become Bradford Road..sneaky sods, it's as if there is some cachet in linking to more famous and enlightened places.

| 1863rd season ticket sold yesterday. Suspect there will be a bit of a surge in sales next few weeks with people buying as Xmas presents. Not sure if we'll reach the 4k target but I expect us to comfortably get past 3k now.

| Probably so mat. And let's not forget we're still in the middle of a long and lingering depression, so I'm sure there are plenty more who simply can't afford to lay out so much cash but who will pay on the gate come the start of the season. I think we'll be OK.

| Great effort from the club and fans. Got to remember we don't have the early bird so there is no rush to buy tickets. We've been relegated and there has been a price increase and we're still getting decent season ticket sales so far.

| We bought our season tickets almost two weeks ago now, and we were told by the person in the ticket office that we were past 2k season tickets sold back then.
I don't begrudge them for doing it by any means, but I suspect this whole '1863rd member' malarky may just be a bit of good old fashioned promoting. The fact that it's a kid who won it just confirms my beliefs.
Either way it's great news.

| I suspect they will hold back on the numbers announced so they can say the figure is going up each month. There will be many people who are holding back till January as there is no point paying now.
I fully expect our average gates will match last year when we are playing winning rugby against teams we haven't played for years. I can't wait for some of those west Yorkshire derbies. It doesn't matter who we play as long as I enjoy the game which is why I am looking forward to this season more than for many a season recently gone.

| Agree Woolly. We've been kicked in the teeth so many times over recent seasons but I'm allowing myself to be more optimistic this time. Miracles I don't expect, a nice bit of boring, conventional, steady as we go will do me nicely for the management side of things. My one hope is that all the headlines are made on the paddock!

| yes, B and W. Management seem to have the best grasp on what needs to be done, and then do it. first part of the season is good prep for the super 8s, and I would expect to see plenty of rotation during then, to minimise injuries before and to ensure that injuries during the S8s have replacements that have game plan experience. So I expect a lot of wins, but not easy ones. And the rotation adds a bit of interest to things too, being able to see if the players can show us the skills that Jimmy and Steve saw in them.

| Fully agree with that Martin.
Given the size of the squad, 29 I think, I'm assuming Jimmy is in the same mind. If he'd intended to simply pick his top 17 each week [subject to fitness during the early qualifying games I think it would have made more sense to put more money into a top 24 or 25 rather than the big squad we have, so I'm expecting him to ring the changes if anyone isn't 100%.
To be honest, and I don't want to be disrespectful, but we are playing most of our early games against part-timers, so there is no need to risk anyone and, in any case, if players aren't on he field carrying injuries in the early games it increases the chances of them being fully fit for the 'business end'.

Hate to rain on your parade Nothus but now I've seen what the 1863 membership is about, I can honestly say the season ticket is excellent value given that belonging to the Membership also has benefits in over 70 outlets in our areas with some impressive discounts at each outlet featured.
The value is in every benefit, besides which we can look forward to seeing everything that JL delivers with our new team next year...so I'm pleased to say that if it's a 'malarky' as you say, I'm glad to be part of it!!!

I think you might have misinterpreted my post here. I was referring to an article wherein the club presented a special prize to the 1863rd person to buy a season ticket. They then did the same thing with the 2000th member (with a quick promotion of their tailoring business).
I was merely being my usual cynical self and implying that these were ways of drumming up good press. I wasn't having a go, and I certainly wasn't bagging the entire 1863 Members Club. I think it's a great idea and the welcome pack is fantastic. The scarf in particular is brilliant and will be getting plenty of use by yours truly, just as soon as it drops cold enough

Apologies my cynical friend, you are right I misread your article, I think 'Malarky' and Kid (ding!) in the same context threw me into alert mode!
In that same vein, I read a post that deduced we had sold on average 26 memberships per day to reach the 2k, so that being the case we should be celebrating the 3000 mark just before the 11th January which will coincide with our first Friendly against Cas and 4000 will be reached just before the first home game of the season on the 22nd Feb.
How's that for timing?????

| do you mean he will provide all of us with a spreadsheet that predicts when we will pass the milestone, or a spreadsheet for us all to use to predict when we will pass the milestone?
If Nuthos is promoting the PR value of both the 1863 and 2000 memberships can I also promote the PR value of appointing a captain that is not an obvious ever-present starter and not announcing the vice captain until further down the timeline? This is certainly the best, most coherent and consistent PR campaign from the club in a long time, and long may it continue.
Sharps appointment must be a sign of certain targets being achieved, and further evidence of the long term thinking of this regime
