| Good luck to Wagga if he goes. With O'Brien waiting in the wings a move to Salford might be the best for all concerned.
As for the halfback situation I just hope Herbert is up to scratch and stays injury free or we'll be up poop creek again. We may have plenty of options but apart from Southernwood (who is yet to prove himself) we only have a bunch of players who will be playing out of position covering 6 and 7.

| Godwin is rubbish anyway. Another flop McNamara signing hopefully out the door. Never done anything of note at Bradford anyway.

| As mentioned, it looks like Godwin will sign a 3 year deal and this could be announced by Wednesday. However, with Orford not officially sorted, dont expect anybody coming in until Jan at the earliest.

| Player swap or simply making space on our salary cap to bring in a new recruit?
Thanks for your efforts though Wagga, he gave 100% when he pulled on the shirt and I wish him well. It was obvious for all to see that his 1st team opportunities looked limited with L'Estrange and Diskin also at the club.

| Quote ="mat"Quote ="Maislebugs"I suspect we're only too happy to release him to get him off the wages bill. His best spell came at the back of the 09 season when he started alongside Lynch and Scruton with Burgess coming off the bench but overall he's been poor. However if he walked away and said he was played off the bench in the poorest Bradford front row in a decades I'd probably agree with him. There must have been times last season when Lynch, Scruton and Langley were injured or off the field and he had Hall, Worrincey and young kids like Crossley and wondered what he'd done wrong.'"
not sure what relevence a poor pack we were forced to play last season due to injuries has to whether wagga would want to stay this season when we strengthened in the forwards and have one off the better groups of forwards in the league. more likely he'd want to leave to get first team games, which he isnt likely to get at bradford unless we suffer injuries. But from our point off view cant see us being bothered too much about getting him off the wage bill unless we need the space for someone else.'"
The poor pack we played last year was only partly due to injuries. It was also due to the signing of poor players (Hall and Worrincey), players with a poor fitness record (Sculthorpe) and not having enough props in the squad. The relevance of this becomes apparent when you read later posts (Mystic Eddie) who say that Godwin was simply rubbish. My point is that Godwin would argue that the players he played with and were meant to be setting a platform for him were of a poor quality owing to the reasons outlined above.

fair enough that last years poor pack wasnt entirely down to injuries, although losing lynch, langley and scrutes for extended periods certainly didnt help. But what relevance does that pack have to godwins decision to leave (and thats assuming that it was godwins decision to make). The pack has been strengthened significantly since last year, so I dont see how wagga could have any complaints in that regard. I think its much more likely thats he going to give himself a better chance of first team games, which is something we can't guarantee any more.

| I was hoping that we would have some real competition in the hookers this year, but I can completely understand the move from all sides. Having 3 senior hookers and a potential superstar youngster is a luxury. Yes it's great to have, but if you're looking to clear space in a squad, you can certainly understand why that would be the place, and if you were to lose Disko, Wagga or Stranger, it's the correct choice IMO. From his own POV, he gets a 3 year deal elsewhere in a team where he'll get in the 17 every week (with only Leo-Latu there as a senior hooker and apparently there may be a visa issue there), which he wouldn't with us this year.
He did show flashes (and I'm not just talking about the "wagging" incident that MDF is meaning) but at times looked lacking. His best was definitely 2009 after Newton got injured and he was starting. He's also changed games when he's come off the bench. Not consistent enough to be classed as a major loss, but showed enough to go with good wishes.

| I don't particularly seeing it as weakening us. As has already been eluded to, Godwin has shown flashes of form, but he's never been a superstar; and him potentially being replaced with Diskin only strengthens us IMO. Adam O'Brien has had a good tour with the England Academy and I look forward to him getting a chance as 3rd choice hooker, which is the best scenario for him.
Good luck to Wagga.

Yeah Daniel is Luke's best mate, and he's been saying he loves life in Salford and has only just signed that new deal, so I highly doubt he'd want to go or we'd let him. As for Ratchford, I was thinking we would of used Leo-Latu at hooker, and when he's on the bench move Smith in to the hooker position and Ratchford partnering with Holdsworth, but if we sign Godwin it would seen unlikely. However, Leo-Latu hasn't yet got his visa so we'll have to see what happens with that.

Matty Smith I was talking about, should of said, but anyway in the M.E.N it says Leo-Latu won't be signing and we should complete the signing of Godwin in the next 24 hours, although I've heard he has already definitely signed.

I would imagine that's the reason if we're not getting cash or a player from Salford.

| Apparently Wakey have pulled out of talks with a quota player who plays in the front row. They have now signed a back row/front row player who has recently become available. I wonder if this could see the departure of Glen Hall to Wakey as many have predicted on here? (His departure that is, not always been rumoured to Wakey though)
