I wish people would stop going on about Orford being homesick and calling him a mummy's boy. FFS people grow up, people are allowed to be homesick. Especially when they were brought up in Australia and now reside on the other side of the world, in Bradford!

What's been disappointing in this whole affair/debacle is Orford's willingness (or lack of) to come out and say what's going on, he's shown very little credibility and very little character.

His apparent lack of backbone in coming out and being honest with the club makes him a mummy's boy in my book.

As for homesickness I suspect this is just an excuse. The bloke isn't married and away from his kids or anything. He's very well paid and is living the life of a professional sportsman.

Was he not homesick at the time he suffered a season ending injury? If so, why not say "Look, Pete, I'm sorry but I am homesick to the serious extent that I can't stay here any more, so can we negotiate a release."

If he is a man, then he would accept this alleged "homesickness" as a not totally unpredictable price of signing a 3 year contract to play and reside on "the other side of the world". So far as I am aware, and if I ignore approx 2 cm of tectonic plate movements, Bradford was still the same distance across the world when he signed, as it is now.

But then why would he do that when the very inference suggests he has no desire to come back. He would be a fool to say "I don't want to come back" not to mention in breach of contract. Similarly it would rule out any return to the club and his overly healthy contract.

Can we assume Orford will need to still report back for pre season training whilst these talks are on hold? If we're paying him I'd expect him to turn up, even if its just to carry the water for the players who do want to be here. If he doesn't want to turn up to work and doesn't want to be in breach of his contract he can ask for some unpaid gardening leave (or whatever you want to call it) to stay on the beach.

Although I suspect in reality the club won't enforce this as they must just want shut and hope the neogotiations go as quick as they can, holidays to bali and the USA excepted....

Indeed what has made Orford look a self-serving arsse is the way he appears to have treated the Bulls and the fans, many of whom felt able to take his own pronouncements of allegiance and intention to return at face value. The time to quit if he wanted to leave would be when he suffered his major injury. Then we could have been in the market early doors for a 7. Only you don't get paid a few months for nowt that way. Is he still taking the money now?
