With the players Crusaders have brought in, it's pretty obvious they do have a big budget imo.

Not to mention having a former Head Coach as Nobby's assistant!

Hopefully we'll take as long as needed to get the best man possible, but the sooner the better I would agree.

agree. unless its Nobby we should be looking at Australia. if we want to become a top side we need the guidance of somebody quality, and there are no "quality" GB coaches.

if we want to compete with Aus and NZ then we need the very best coaches teaching our younger players.

tbh English coaches are nowhere near as important as successful clubs.

Why the hell would we want Harrison to be our coach I mean he did alright at Salford but like Lowes or Mcdermott we do not need them.

Dennis Betts is leaving Gloucester for a new challenge. Could that be the Bulls?

Interesting, but there's a few clubs after new coaches so it might not be us.

I'd certainly take Denis Betts over Lowes and McDermott, Betts has the potential to be a top class coach.

stevie folkes probs as assistant ....he does all the stuff geoff evans does so we may realease him and save a little bit of money

I'd still like Folkes with Menzies eventually his assistant.

Him, or Milward would be my choice. But any of those 4 would be a welcome addition given an evidently limited budget.

Don't know about his budget but the overseas player dispensation that the Crusaders have just fits his MO. Not many other clubs can take on 14 (I think its 14) overseas players!

And wasn't he responsible for, and enthusiastic about, youth development at Wigan when Mike Greg was in charge?

thing is are we prepared to take a risk on a coach with limited first team coaching experience, which has been critiscm levelled at macca for last couple of years?. betts as assistant to either an oz or mcdermott would be a good call but doubt we could afford it.

Someone at the club was telling me last night it is Betts. Not a bad choice IMO.

Thing is if it is an Oz coach it's unlikely to be a current first team coach so you are taking a bigger risk as, not only haven't they been a first team coach, but they just might not settle in this country. Wigan have been lucky (so far) with McGuire.

The ones who tend not to settle are the unsuccessful ones or those who subsequently get better jobs in Aus.
