If you're referring to Orford, good luck to those who take him on. I'll be glad to see the back of him.

I'd say the same if it means we are getting another player in. No point if it means we lose a number from our squad but dont get anyone else in.

| Well IF we lose a quota player then that gives us some more scope in terms of looking for a half back, which is where we are still light despite MP's assurances to the contrary

| Said it before and I'll say it again. If we go with Kearney and Herbert as our only halves this year I'll be ruddy annoyed.
We struggled like hell last year at half when players got injured. Everybody knew that was where we were weak numbers wise, and this is still the case. Don't give me Orford is to blame, as we've got Herbert to replace him.
Potter knew about the squad and I'm worried I'm hearing the same line Macca gave before the start of last season from him (Potter) too, that we have lots of players who can fill in.
Even a recognised half as cover would be enough. Do we really need Ainscough, Halley, Raynor, Finigan, Ah Van and possibly Royston all competing for 2 wing spots? Ok, that list might not be quite right, but hopefully you get the point that 5 players for 2 postions such as the wing isn't probably the best way to spend our salary cap.

| Going from what MP said at the live chat on Thursday, Royston and Ah Van are both considered options for 6. Then for 7 we have Herbert and Southernwood.
So at the minute I'd say we need a 7 more than a 6.

The trouble is mate, who was available? We had very little strike power out wide last year and MP's signings have addressed that. If there had been a half back who'd improve us then I'm sure the club would have attempted to sign him. But 6 & 7 seems to be a rare breed at the moment

| I'd love to see a Godwin-Ratchford swap!!
Can't see it, but I can hope I suppose. They are light at hooker though. Does anyone know if there is any truth in the Wagga story?

Salford's new player was apparently due to be mentioned in today's League Express (according to Sadler on Twitter anyway). If anyone has a copy, it should be in there? My copy doesn't arrive until tomorrow as I have it delivered. They are very light at hooker though, yeah.
I'd like even more to see Daniel Holdsworth come our way, but I would assume he's quota so highly unlikely. Ratchford doesn't look the finished article by any stretch, but he certainly looks to have some good potential, so I'd take that.

Understand your point about the "who is available line" but this was a problem last year so should have been top priority. The club knew what was happening with Orford long ago, let's not pretend that they didn't.
All we've done is get Herbert to replace Orford. We've still not addressed the issue of cover for probably the most important role on the pitch. The club feel Southernwood is nowhere near ready to do this properly so we're left with players who can "fill in".
Maybe we should have pushed other clubs a little harder, and maybe even have swapped a player with another club? Just my opinion, but I also think the Leon story, was only that.......certainly helped with the pledge....

apparently thats whats in league express too, although I havent seen it personally. Expected to sign a 3 year deal this week. Makes sense really as there was no obvious spot for him and cant see him being happy sitting on sidelines every week.

Matt Orford. Signed 3 year deal with us 1 year ago. Point made?
I wasn't suggesting he was coming. Just best case scenario, as I think Holdsworth is a cracking player.

| They would never get rid of Holdsworth. They seem to be building the team around him. I know they say he played a big part in Luke Patten signing for them.
On the other hand, Ratchford was moved positions frequently last year, and seems to play second fiddle to Holdsworth so him leaving for a team that needs a stand-off wouldn't be a major shock.

salford just used ratchford for the official shirt launch pictures so I doubt he's going anywhere. That said only reason I could see us letting wagga go is in order to bring someone else in. Whilst he was unlikely to get in team ahead of diskin and l'estrange he was decent bacup in case one of them gets injured. Cant see us letting him go unless its either part of a player swap or we're getting a transfer fee for him that we need to sign someone else.

| I suspect we're only too happy to release him to get him off the wages bill. His best spell came at the back of the 09 season when he started alongside Lynch and Scruton with Burgess coming off the bench but overall he's been poor. However if he walked away and said he was played off the bench in the poorest Bradford front row in a decades I'd probably agree with him. There must have been times last season when Lynch, Scruton and Langley were injured or off the field and he had Hall, Worrincey and young kids like Crossley and wondered what he'd done wrong.

not sure what relevence a poor pack we were forced to play last season due to injuries has to whether wagga would want to stay this season when we strengthened in the forwards and have one off the better groups of forwards in the league. more likely he'd want to leave to get first team games, which he isnt likely to get at bradford unless we suffer injuries. But from our point off view cant see us being bothered too much about getting him off the wage bill unless we need the space for someone else.

| I did post a question to Mick at the online fan chat about how he was going to use wagga with Le'strange and Diskin our obvious first choice hookers.........it got ignored/didn't get answered. I like Wagga as he was one of the few who actually hit a person and make the tackle but his creative flair isn't the best!!
