My advice would be to not get too hung up on roles & deputies, apart from the treasurer if you are handling money. From experience I would agree what the forthcoming campaign is & agree who is doing what at the time. Then repeat with the next campaign.

I think whats important is to establish a set group of people that are willing to be involved in any way at first. Setting out roles for a real trust isn't really an advisable thing to do on an internet forum I reckon. I mean, I can see a role whats been named that my potential career and uni course would suit to a T, but I'd rather tell everyone in person why I want to be given that role, if you get me.

If we arrange another meeting down the line, then this gives people ample opportunity to present their cases for a particular role in person around the rest of the trust, and to set up the working group in the same way. Any thoughts?

You're probably right. Should we just get a group together to organise and publicise a further meeting, and let people put themselves forward at the meeting?

Sounds like the best policy to me. Like I say, it then gives us a chance to put ourselves in front of each other in person.

I know everyone wants to keep it independent, and I'm not suggesting otherwise. But is there any way we can get the Bulls to put something on the website and maybe even get it in the T & A if possible, about the meeting? (Once a date/time is agreed upon)

At the moment, everything is severely limited to the people who frequent this forum. There is probably a number of people who would jump at the chance to be involved and who have skills that would be useful, who don't come on RLFans. Perhaps getting something on the website and/or T&A would alert them?

Yeah, good point. I've spoke to Blake Richardson (T&A sports editor) a few times about numerous things, I reckon I might have a crack at getting something in the T&A.

The question of publicity, and of widening this out from just an internet-based concept, was specifically addressed at the meeting. When Stuart Duffy was called in at the end, he specifically said the T&A was far and away the vehicle to use for publicising things, and that they were always crying out for Bulls-related material. He urged that this route be pursued.

He added that at the moment the T&A did not have a RL reporter (although this is expected to be resolved soon) and the meeting discussed the opportunity that getting alongside the new man at inception could present, even if it may be a bit late for any initial publicity.

Duffy also said yes in principle to the website, and the meeting also discussed whether the club could help by allowing material to be sent out "...we have been asked to send..." with their normal regular mailings etc? I think there was a qualified yes to that.

The points were also raised about the local events etc pages in League Express, leafleting and so on. I think the meeting was very alive to the scope restriction if confined just to the forum, and comments above serve to highlight that further.

Interesting, do you think its worth perhaps getting in contact with the T&A now and getting the ball rolling, so to speak? Or is it worth hanging on until we have some concrete information about a date and time so people know whats going on?

Good idea. The message board is frequently one of the worst ways to organise anything.

OK, I suggest we get together a list of jobs that need accomplishing to get the open meeting organised, then divvy them out. Then anyone can put themselves forward for the working group which we can vote on.

1 Publicise the meeting with the T&A, possibly with assistance from the club
2 Publicise the meeting through the club
3 Publicise the meeting through other means?
4 Chair the meeting
5 Minute the meeting
6 Prepare an agenda for the meeting
7 Propose the trust at the meeting
8 Compile a list of positions that need filling in the working group
9 Liaise with supporters direct to assist with 6 and 8

Can anyone else think of anything that I've missed? Also, to reiterate, anyone who ultimately helps out at this stage isn't automatically placing themselves in the working group, that will be at a later stage.
