The reason why I think this rumour has a proper basis is that it was published in the T&A (and connor doesnt just post every baseless rumour - his have some proper basis), and has anyone seen any angry denial from Saints saying Leon is under contract and going nowhere?

Nope. As he is a prize asset, surely they would have something to say about another club letting it be known that moves are afoot for him to break his contract..

That why I'm sure discussions have taken place between the two clubs, but what the outcome was, who knows? It might have gone no further than saints saying "go away till his contract ends", it might still be ongoing. We might never know officially, but I'm certain there has been discussion at some level, which is one of the reasons why the rumour won't go away....the other reason is MickG

Not that we've been searching for a 6, or that we have found one. My bet is somebody we already have at the club will be playing 6 next season.

Before the start of the 2010 season, it was James Graham who was nailed on to leave Saints and join Warrington. According to most Wire fans Graham would be a Wolf before the season started. Not only did it not happen, but the club didn't once comment on the 'rumours'. Its just not what they do at Saints. All i'm saying is read absolutely nothing into silence from Saints.

Suggests to me that there is/was a search for a 6, but its waiting to be announced or its coming to the end.

Some suggestion that Marc Herbert is the signing.

Would fit with Orford to Canberra.

I guess I would be happy with a straight swap as Herbert wouldn't be on the £££ Orford was on and that would free up more money to throw at Leon.

just a name I've heard mentioned on a few forums.can't say I know anything about him as a player but like I said to mick, fact that he was released by canberra before they bothered sourcing a replacement doesnt bode well. If we're looking at relatively unknown halfs from oz I'd rather we looked at younger toyota cup players on the verge of breaking through over ones that have already broken through and then been dumped by NRL clubs.
